Hello,
Sometimes, my Philips brand television turns on by itself while the remote is in a drawer relatively far from the TV (this has happened 5 times already). Additionally, the screen turns on but nothing is displayed (the screen shows a completely black image). Lastly, this only happens at night.
Are you familiar with my problem and do you know how I could fix it?
Has this problem ever happened to you?
Thank you in advance
Configuration: philips 32pfl5404H

I own a Philips LED TV 32PFL7605H Digital TV 81 cm (32") Full HD 1080p with Ambilight Spectra 2 and Pixel Precise HD that is giving me the same trouble!
Here is the link to import the firmware modification onto a USB stick.. follow the instructions on the PHILIPS website, it's very simple

I have two Philips televisions and both of them have problems. The first one is going for repairs for the second time due to a black screen, and the second one turns itself on!
Great! I'm so disappointed with this brand. I'm not even mentioning the toaster of the same brand that I had to exchange after six months. What is going on with you!

Good evening...
Does this unexpected ignition happen at the same time when it occurs... if you have a way of knowing?
What signal input is it connected to: satellite dish, antenna, box...?
What is "almost" the strangest thing is that you have a black screen, unless the channel you were watching before turning it off doesn't broadcast when it turns on..
When that happens, how do you manage to get a picture?
Best regards,
See you later

My television is connected to a rooftop antenna (but it is not the only TV connected to the same antenna). However, there is a PlayStation 3 installation that is located just below the television.
No, the power-up happened once around 5:30 AM and the others between 1 AM and 4 AM.
The most surprising thing is that even if the television is broadcasting a channel that it cannot display correctly, a white banner indicating "encrypted channel" or "channel not installed" should appear (which happens sometimes during the day).

Try unplugging the Play, just in case it's a "on air" update for it, but I don't know how this equipment works...
However, I don't understand your last paragraph, and you're not answering ALL my questions....
I also assume you have a decoder between the antenna and the TV, and if that's the case, it's common for there to be automatic updates, but that doesn't explain, indeed, why the TV turns on...

Does this unexpected ignition occur at the same time when it happens... if you have a way of knowing?
=> No, it doesn't really happen at the same time. However, it only occurs at night.
What signal input is it connected to: satellite dish, antenna, set-top box...?
=> antenna. The digital terrestrial decoder is integrated into the television. Only an amplifier is situated between the television and the antenna.
What is "almost" the strangest is that you have a black screen, unless the channel you were watching before turning it off isn't broadcasting when it turns on..
=> When a channel isn't broadcasting, a white banner appears on the black screen explaining where the problem comes from (example: encrypted channel, weak signal, etc...).
I also forgot to mention that the buttons on the remote control no longer respond. Except for the "Home" button and the button to "turn on/off" the television.
When I press the "home" button, the last channel watched the night before appears.

Hello everyone
My TV in standby mode at bedtime turns on at 6:00 AM (automatically) for 2 to 3 minutes (white screen) and then goes back into standby
I own a PHILIPS 32PLF6605H / 12 connected to a rooftop antenna in a building with no other connections, box, or console and STILL UNDER WARRANTY, and I am experiencing the same problem
I even intervened with the antenna technician to check the quality of the antenna: everything is fine - I am the only one in the building facing this issue
Since the switch to ALL DIGITAL, my TV regularly turns on at 6:00 AM when it is in standby at night - at 6:00 the screen turns white and this lasts about 3 minutes before going back into standby
I have contacted PHILIPS customer service three times - the SSB board has been replaced twice, the software has been updated multiple times - all settings have been checked in OFF mode and the problem persists
Now PHILIPS is returning the TV to me, informing me that everything is fine and "you have to deal with it": you just have to get up to turn it off because my TV is in my bedroom - I am appalled by such a response from a big brand
What I especially notice is that PHILIPS IS BUYING TIME BECAUSE MY WARRANTY ENDS IN APRIL 2013.......... ! ! ! ! They are aware of the issue over the phone, but in no way do they offer me a model replacement for example.........
Has anyone found a solution? Please
Thank you all

Hello,
Sorry for all these inconveniences.
To assist you, could you please proceed with the following tests:
1-Disable the automatic channel setting,
2-Follow the instructions provided by Stewatia on the forum:
"You can install a standby killer: https://www.avidsenstore.com/coupe-veille-tv-p.html the principle is simple, you connect it to the power outlet and then connect the TV to it, install the IR receiver, using double-sided tape if necessary, above or below the TV. This IR receiver will learn the power on/off command from your TV remote.
To turn off the TV, press the power button, it will turn off and cut the power supplying it. To turn it back on, press the power button on the TV remote once, this will activate the power outlet; pressing it a second time will turn on the TV: https://www.avidsenstore.com/coupe-veille-tv-p.html
This outlet has a learning button and works with any TV."
3-Check that your cables are of good quality and securely inserted into their respective sockets.

Are these tests serious?
As for me, I'm a computer scientist, I have significant experience in customer support as well as in internet connection troubleshooting (former hotline operator) ...
And you also recommend buying a "power strip" when madam or sir was under warranty, well done ... and you are surprised that we would spit in your face when you say such things? You should also advise them to contact a real repair person instead of your customer support, while you're at it ...
Just say it clearly that you can’t do anything, that there’s no solution on your side, that many Philips TV models have the same intermittent problem and that you won’t do anything.

unfortunately after 3 visits to the brand's customer service and a device still under warranty, the only thing PHILIPS offers me is to invest in an additional box... or even more ridiculous, to make basic adjustments on my TV
imagine that for the past 6 months, I have been dealing with this problem and through the hands of different technicians, all adjustments and software updates have been made several times.
It seems that no one reads the contents of my file, and it is normal then that I think you are trying to buy time until the end of my warranty in late April 2013 without addressing the root of the problem: REPAIRING the TV or acknowledging that it may have a defect and CHANGING it would then be commercial - simple, right?!!!!! BEHAVIOR THAT EVERY GREAT SERIOUS BRAND SHOULD HAVE WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS
since yesterday, it has gone back for the 4th time to PHILIPS customer service for repair: and I am not lacking to be informed during my drop-off that customer service is incompetent and greatly harms the brand: even if I knew that ... it does not make me feel reassured
to be continued ....

but that's the same with all professionals, they can't say "there's nothing we can do," so they end up passing you around to make you lose your patience and make you stop bothering them... and plus, you were under warranty? That's not normal at all, it seems to me they should have given you a replacement with another model if they couldn't do anything.
Then the problem with these intermittent failures is that they don't happen when you want them to, so they didn’t notice a failure and send it back... it's silly but that's how it works... it's an annoying problem but not a blocking one... so logically, for this kind of issue, they won't do anything.

My TV works perfectly during the day
The only problem is that it turns on at 6:00 AM when the automatic update of the digital channels via the antenna takes place
Therefore, it is not a power surge but an issue that the PHILIPS TV does not stop this update even when it is in the OFF position as intended in the TV software.

I said the same thing until today. When the "phenomenon" occurred, I was just dozing off. However, when my television turns on, two successive images illustrate the startup of my TV. But today, I saw these two images. Therefore, the problem does not come from me, as I wouldn't have had the time to pick up the remote control and put it back down (as well as to open and close the drawer) before the end of the TV's "launch."
It's interference, it happened to me and I found out it's my wireless mouse causing it, so I got a wired one.
Check the other wireless devices.
Check the other wireless devices.
No, I do not agree, and for several reasons
1- I have a TV mounted on the wall and high up (like in hospitals) with a power outlet up high to avoid the cable, so it's not possible to place a surge protector
2- We are in the 21st century and TVs are sold with a remote control, so I will not get up in the evening for the entire lifespan of my TV to turn off my device
3- My TV is still under warranty, and Philips must take responsibility for its products
4- I am on a model that costs over 400 euros, and I believe I am entitled to the standby function
Best regards

I've had the problem before; it was because it was set to store mode instead of home mode. If that can help you...

I thought I was crazy lol, the first time I said to myself "damn, it's on all night".
Yet I didn't watch TV yesterday... didn't touch the remote anyway...
The next night around midnight... I thought, mmmm the remote hasn't been touched yet it's on with a blue background, ... there must be a prankster messing with something remotely so I turned off the TV.
And I came online and bingo, I'm not the only one...

The fact that the channel displays nothing or something different from the day before suggests a power outage, and when the power returns, the TV turns back on, but due to the outage, the memory is erased and the TV resets to default settings, probably to analog mode if you have both types of tuners on your TV, which would explain the "channel not set" message if that's the case. So it remains to check the type of subscription with your electricity provider to see if the outage originates from there, or if the fact that your remote isn't working is a TV issue, but it seems to happen only at night.
Hello,
Same problem as Nico3033, only at night, at the same time, 6 AM.
LED TV with built-in antenna (might be connected to the Freebox; need to check because a friend tried to connect it to the internet but I don't use that feature).
The first time, I thought that by turning over in bed, I had accidentally pressed the remote control. But when the phenomenon happened again the next day, the remote was out of my reach... Black screen with the home icon...
Nearby, a laptop in sleep mode on wifi and a mobile phone turned on.
This phenomenon was already occurring with a Phillips WACS 700.
Thank you for your help.

My Philips television also turns on at 6 a.m. at night. The problem still hasn't been resolved.

I just bought a Philips LED television. Everything works perfectly except that... every evening, between 8:15 PM and 8:20 PM, it turns off and on by itself. Not great because I always miss the beginning of movies or shows! Then, often around 8:40 PM or later, it starts working normally again...
Think of an animal too, like the cat that stays in the house and grooms itself with its butt on the remote control.

Welcome to the club ;-)
My TV is new (6 days) and I'm experiencing various problems:
It turns on by itself - even during the day.
The volume changes on its own.
I have no picture when I change channels, just sound and a black screen.
So every time I change the channel, I have to turn off the TV!!!!!!
What should we do with our Philips TVs???? Sell them? ;-)

Hello, no problem, return to the store for an exchange or for another brand. If purchased online, request a return label for defective equipment; the store should take care of it. Choose another brand.
To clarify, was it purchased online? If so, specify the store. In-store, make the exchange, specify the reference and the price; we can find a more reliable brand.
