Hello,
I had a similar problem with another low-end compact camera. A stay in the tropical forest was probably fatal for it. On site, I made a claw to keep the flap open with a paperclip. After a few weeks, the lens became like a sausage skin, and I had to part with it, swearing but a bit late to never buy low-end again.
