Invalid security certificate Solved/Closed

Question

Hello everyone,

For the past few days, I have been unable to launch internet applications such as Windows MSN, Internet Explorer, and web pages that require a password.
It indicates that the security certificate has expired.
With Windows Live Messenger, the following errors appear: error code 80048828 and 80048412.
No application that requires a password can be opened.

1) Check the date on your computer.  If the date is incorrect, you will have issues with certificates, antivirus software, etc.   2) Make sure you have installed all Windows updates (WindowsUpdate).  Among the updates provided by Microsoft, there are sometimes root certificate updates that can resolve issues.

Hi, I had the same problem this morning. It turns out that the date on my PC went back 7 years (motherboard battery issue). By updating it, the problem was solved.  I hope it works for you.  Bye

For this situation generally and almost all the time you need to check the date on the computer, update it, and that's it. If that doesn't work, you need to go to options = internet options = advanced tab = and reset. Note that under Windows XP you need to back up your favorites because they are deleted, but not under Vista. Good luck everyone!

The same thing happened to me, and I just found out the reason: the clock and calendar on my computer had been reset (why?), and all I had to do was update them for everything to work normally again.

THANK YOU, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, but I suspect that my PC is being hacked (via IP and/or by monitoring my sites to grab usernames (like phishing..?) I have already uninstalled msn (which no longer wanted to work) and done some extensive scans...
The trick of adjusting the time did indeed stop the security message that was appearing on sites with username and password, but I'm not really reassured! How can I ensure that I am not being surveilled/hacked and possibly remedy this?

Well, I just went to another PC, exported the certificates to import them into my browser, and now my MSN works
