Windows Movie Maker recording issue

Solved

Hello,

I am currently having problems saving my project onto a CD. It lasts 37 minutes and is 5.0 GB. It should fit on a CD because the size is not too large.
The recording works, but once I try to watch my film (which consists of videos, photos, and music), it stops after 15 minutes; I can still hear the sound, but the screen is black.
I have tried everything and don't know what to do!

I have been working on this project for two weeks, and I need to send it as soon as possible.
Thank you in advance for guiding me.
P.S. I should mention that I am not very knowledgeable about computers.
Configuration: HP DV4000 Laptop

Phew, I finally found a solution!
So I was in the same situation as you, the recording was getting stuck or wouldn't even start.

I recorded the video in DV-AVI format (which you can select in other settings when recording the video) and then I added it to my collections and saved it using "fit to file size": I was able to get the video to a reasonable size!

I hope this works for you!

Aaahhh! Thank you so much Ann'! For the time I was torturing myself trying to get him to record that six-minute video at a size less than 1.24 GB! XD I jumped for joy when it started up properly! Kisu!

Super Ann, it works, I've been trying multiple manipulations for several days, finally it works. As you said, it's all silly. Ann, you’ve won a drink!!!

It didn't work, and it's even worse because I lost the last 5 minutes of my movie, neither sound nor image. The reduction seems to have been too radical? However, I found the original idea to be original and even tortuous. Too bad!

Hi,
I'm not a computer expert either, but since I've been working on Movie Maker for a while, I might be able to help you. First of all, the size of your project doesn't seem appropriate for its duration. 5GB is way too much for a 37-minute project, so I ask you to check what format you saved it in. We'll decide what to do next. See you soon.

I can't save my project on my computer; I get a message saying that I have moved, modified, or deleted my source files, but I've checked everything and that's not the case. What can I do? Thank you for your help.

Hello
thank you very much for your tip Ann' but I've tried and it's still not working!!!
here's what it says
"wmm cannot save the video to the specified location. Please check that the original source files
used in the video and the original location are still available and that there is enough disk space."
obviously, the "original source files" are available, and there is enough disk space!!!
can you help please?

Ann, you’re saving my life, I thought I was the only one in this situation.
I was afraid I would have to completely redo our holiday film that I had taken such care of.

Thank you so much!

Hi, I also have a video that is about 12 minutes long, but when I save it and play it in Windows Movie Maker, after 6 minutes, I only have audio, no image.
Thank you for enlightening us.

Well, I managed to do it, but I’m going to explain it to you somewhat awkwardly since it only happens on my computer. In the icon bar, at the bottom right, when I do some editing there are lots of white squares with two squares, one red and one blue (ffdshow audio decoder and ffdshow video decoder). So I just double-clicked on them and activated all the disabled codecs. There you go, a pretty useful bug on my PC xD

Hello
I also can't get the loading to start and I don't understand Ann's technique for the collections.
Thank you in advance.

Sure, with forums where we just ask the same question 10,000 times, we're never going to make it... Between that and those who write like crap (text language, mistakes in French and spelling...), we're in big trouble!

Hello, I also have a recording issue
my file is 35 minutes long and it's just under 1GB

but Movie Maker won't let me save it as a video because it says there's not enough virtual memory

can you please give me a solution because it's a film for my final project thank you in advance

Hi Pierre.
To solve your problem, first increase your virtual memory by going to Control Panel/System/Advanced. In "Performance," click on Settings/Advanced. In "Virtual Memory," click on "Change"/Custom size and increase your virtual memory without reaching the maximum size. If your problem persists, you need to check the file format of your project (a poor format can increase the size of your project). To do this, go to other settings when you're in the video configuration after choosing the name and location of your project's save. Then select DV-AVI PAL. After that, it should be fine. See you later.

Hello, I have a video that's barely 2 minutes long and 31 MB. When I try to save it, I get that infamous message even after trying all your techniques that don't work for me. Does anyone have another solution, a real one? Please T_T

Hello, my project is 21 minutes long, but when I try to burn it onto a CD, the estimated time keeps increasing to 30 minutes; at one point, it said there were 22,036 minutes remaining. It's the same when I try to save it on my computer. What should I do?

Hi,
When you try to register it on your computer, are you sure you've configured your recording in AVI-PAL?

Hello, I also have a problem with WMM. I made a video that lasts about 30 minutes and once finished, I saved it on my computer. However, when I watch it, it stops after 10 minutes.
While searching online, I read that with this software, the videos can only be 10 minutes max??? Can you help me, thanks.

Hello,

I found the solution for everyone because I had the same problem. It's actually quite simple but you have to think about it, lol! You just need to save your video by specifying the format, for example instead of saving it as "maison" you need to put "maison.avi" and then it works perfectly!!
Go try it out and let me know how it goes

See you later

Hello,

I tested the transformation of house into house.avi and at my place it doesn't work. On the contrary, the remaining time for the recording just keeps increasing (I've reached 6600 minutes remaining) without it actually starting.
So if anyone has another idea, I'm all ears....
Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I have the same problem too. Once the video is finished, I save it, but it gets stuck at 17% and the remaining time just keeps increasing. Please help me....

Hello,

try changing the size and resolution in the advanced settings; this will reduce the loading time. However, if it doesn’t start, it means there’s a bug somewhere^^.

I have made many videos and for the past few days, once finished, I can no longer save the video file, which is not larger than those already made. It completely freezes my computer and I have to turn it off to restart.
Thank you for replying

Big problem with recording a video on Movie Maker! On one hand, I'm being told that I've moved the files, and on the other hand, while recording, it stays at 0 percent, invalid format... other videos created earlier have experienced the same issue, but this one is even more important; it concerns the 15th anniversary of an association I'm responsible for, the video in question is 15 minutes long and is eagerly awaited by a whole group... I'm not very familiar with Movie Maker (my brother handles it better), please explain in detail if there's a solution.

Thank you in advance.
