Windows 7 won't start: Startup repair

Hello,

I am desperate and I don't know who to turn to.

My laptop (a HP G61 - 430SF) is unable to start.
I turn it on, it starts up correctly, all the lights come on as expected but then:
Black screen with 2 options:
- Launch system recovery tool (recommended)
- Start Windows normally
By choosing the first option, I get a window: "System Recovery Options" that appears.
In the dropdown menu "select a keyboard input method": I choose "French" and click on "Next".
Then I have a "Startup Repair" window that appears with this message: "Your computer was unable to start". "Startup Repair is checking your system for problems". I see a progress bar and above it, it says "Searching for problem" and then, after 5 minutes, "Attempting to repair" ... And this has been going on for 20 minutes. What should I do?

Thank you in advance for your responses, I am a student in the middle of exam preparation, all my courses are on it, it’s a matter of life or death. =S

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.6.16

So, we sent an email to our PC brand (ASUS) and it says the following:

    << Notebook Restoration

Back up your data before proceeding with the restoration, as you will erase everything on the hard drive.

    ? Restoration with the CDs?

    1) With the PC plugged in, insert the Recovery CD into the PC.
    2) Restart the PC and when you see the Asus logo, press the ESC key multiple times.
    3) Select "CD/DVD", then "recovery windows to entire HD with 2 partitions".
    4) When prompted, insert the "Drivers and Utility" CD and confirm.
    5) Wait for the restoration to complete.

? Restoration with the F9 key?

    1) During the PC startup, press the F9 key repeatedly and very quickly.
    2) Then, on Windows Boot Manager, choose Windows Set Up and press Enter; an "Asus preload wizard" window will appear, confirm with "Enter" (or Next...), choose the third option, confirm (Next...), and you will start the restoration. >>

      Hello,

Today, my ASUS K52F laptop is giving me trouble.

It won't restart in normal mode under Windows 7. Just this morning it was working perfectly and shut down properly.

I no longer have the Windows session starting; by default, it is in recovery mode: I'm hesitant because I don't want to lose my data.

How can I solve this problem?
