Hello everyone,
I'm new to video editing on WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER and I have a few little issues. I burned my video onto a CD and I noticed that it was in MSWMM format, so I can't play it. How can I play my video on a DVD player and how can I convert it? P.S. I don't have a DVD burner, I'm looking forward to your replies! THANK YOU, Laet

To convert an MSWMM video to AVI, go to FILE, click on SAVE VIDEO FILE; click on WORKPLACE; click on NEXT and select the location on your disk where you want your file to be saved (with the name you have given it); click on NEXT and click on OTHER SETTINGS, in the drop-down menu, then select DV-AVI; click on next and your edit will be saved (this may take a few minutes!). And there you go, it's done. ^^
The mswmm format represents an intermediate file containing the elements needed to create a video film. It is therefore only readable by the Windows Movie Maker software. It cannot be used otherwise. To make the film or slideshow readable, it must be "published."
Windows Movie Maker then offers 5 options: Direct publication on CD-R, publication on the computer, etc...
Publication to the computer's hard drive creates a file with a .wmv extension.
This file can then easily be burned to a DVD using Windows DVD Maker, which offers the option to create DVD menus with a nice professional look.
For example, for a miniDV video tape of one hour, publication to the hard drive requires less than 300MB. An .avi file would require significantly more than 4GB for a roughly equivalent quality.
Good luck with your editing...

Hello Michel,
Your help has been invaluable regarding the conversion of the MSWMM file.
We published the video (Windows Media Maker) on the computer and then converted it to .MP3 using Freemake Audio Converter.
And it works perfectly.
Thank you very much to everyone who takes the time to explain to those who need help.

Hi,
I gave up on WMM because I couldn't succeed, but now I'm using Ulead Video Studio 9, and there, you can create just about all types of formats. If you need more information, feel free to continue the discussion on this forum; I would be happy to help you.

Hello!!!
I don't understand, your CD engraving should be in .WMV for Windows Media Player. Then you save your video clip to your hard drive, and you can easily convert it to .AVI with the free website:
https://www.unibet.de/general-info/info/about-us?mktid=1:1419722:8389-3231
PS: This site can convert many files.
Best regards, Yves-Marie.

Hello,
I am trying to publish my video on my computer using movie maker (.MSWMM), but every time it says "this project contains missing or modified source files after import. The project cannot be published as a movie until the source files have been found or deleted." What should I do, knowing that all the files are present on my editing table?
Thank you.

Hello. I had the same problem as you when trying to publish my movie; I had a message like, all imported parts are not present blah blah blah. In fact, this happens when you delete pieces in your imported files window. Even if your timeline is full, all the files that were used to create it must be present in the imported files window. I had this problem, so I started over by keeping all the files used (I even left the unused parts when "splitting") and my publication worked fine. Good luck to you if you didn’t keep all the split parts because you have to start over... that's what I did = 2 hours wasted.
Thank you in advance.
