3 Beeps at startup and black screen

Question

Hello,

When I turn on my PC, there are 3 beeps. Nothing shows up on the screen.
I thought the graphics card was poorly inserted.
I removed it and reinserted it... it didn't change anything.
Then I read that it corresponds to a memory stick problem. I put in another one and the issue remains unchanged.
Could it be coming from the motherboard?

I had the same problem of beeping without starting. I just forgot to plug in my keyboard.

Hello,

Indeed, 3 beeps at startup usually indicate a RAM issue if your BIOS is from AMI.

But if it's from another brand, it could be something else, particularly the graphics card or the monitor. Check the details from the links available at http://www.commentcamarche.net/pc/bios.php3
If you can, try connecting your monitor to another PC, or connect another monitor to your PC.

For me, it will be exactly the same thing:
- I reset the BIOS using both the jumpers AND the battery... nothing
- Changed the graphics card... nothing
- Changed the monitor... nothing
- Changed the memory... nothing
- I just ordered a new motherboard to see if the problem will be resolved... otherwise I'm going to have to get a new processor :(

If anyone has the solution, I would love to know it :p

I have an HP dv9000 and within a few days I had Wi-Fi connection problems, the system no longer detected the hardware, so no internet. Then yesterday, when trying to turn it on, the computer didn't respond, black screen, 1 "long" beep followed by 2 short beeps, which apparently indicates a problem with the graphics card.
I took everything apart and put it back together, but nothing worked.

I took a flat screen and connected it to the port on the left side of the computer.
And then, miracle, the dv9000 screen lit up at the same time as the other screen.

I took the opportunity to update my graphics card as well as my network card, and apparently the problem was resolved at startup, but I don’t know for how long.

Surely it's the RAM, it needs to be changed. You can test your RAM using a software memtest.
