Hello everyone,
I am using an ACER Aspire 1692 with Windows XP Home. I would like to increase my download speed in eMule (currently with a low ID) but I cannot access the router. Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much.

Since the firmware update by the operator on my Alice Box AH4021 (v2) model in version 2.03, I am unable to connect via telnet.
Command typed in a Linux terminal.
mst@mst-laptop:~$ telnet 192.168.1.1
Trying 192.168.1.1...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
Basically, after some research, I learn that the operator wants to standardize web interfaces and has removed all advanced configuration, no more root or support login, worse than that, in fact, the login field for authentication does nothing, only the password (alice) is used.
In short, when it asks for it, the window tells me:
The site http://192.168.1.1 asks for a username and password. The site states: "Alice Box Administration"
I enter what I want in the Username field and 'alice' as the password, that's security at Alice.
In short, if any little kid finds your WAN IP address, they can access your box in a rather easy way, thus retrieving your WPA passphrase, or worse, modifying it. They can also see who you called and who is calling you, honestly, it's grrrrrrrr.

well seen, thanks for the info
I would like to set up the Alice box. I have ADSL at home, and I connect my laptop to the Alice box. I have internet on my laptop, but I can't connect to Skype or MSN. However, if I use my laptop in my apartment, I can access Skype. What should I do? I've connected to 192.168.1.1, but I don’t have the password? Please guide me!
Thank you
Thank you
Hi,
I just saw the message on the forum... So for your information, by using alice as the login and alice as the password, I can log in to the router... However, I don't know where to go to change the credentials. Given the date, you probably already found the solution, otherwise I hope this will be enough for you.
Happy tinkering,

go to start. alice.advanced configuration..
automatically the default explorer opens and displays the config at address 192.168.1.1
if nothing happens, you need to disable the software firewall (e.g.: zone alarm..) and/or the hardware firewall, for example, linksys router

Hello everyone, I would like to change the password of my Alice Box router which is alice/alice (for username and password) and I find it quite weak for identification, especially since I think there are some smart ones in my building who might be hacking into my connection. I say this because my connection frequently drops. I have accessed the system and I have already changed my network key and switched to WPA mode but the connection still drops, and conveniently around 11:30 AM and around 5:00 PM and in the evening. Anyway, if anyone has an idea on how to change the username and password it would be really nice if you could tell me how to do it. Thanks in advance for all the responses there will be.

Hello,
if someone could share the new root password for the new Alice Box firmware, I would appreciate it in advance.
(The login/pass support/dvguhbti still works but does not allow access to all modem options).
Model Alice Box AH4021 (v2)
Software version 2.0.4

Hi!
It's much simpler, just search a bit on Google, know how to read and mindlessly follow the instructions.
www.info-actu.info/articles/alicebox/alicebox_1.php
Then maybe do this:
http://www.emule-france.com/forum/configuration-firewall-xp-mule,t31076.htm
Happy hacking.

Hello everyone.
To change the passwords for the users "alice", "admin", "support", and "root" (yes, there is a root user who can do everything), you need to log in as the "root" user with the password "h4y2svl0" or "v8r7u43y" depending on the version, then go to "management" => "access control" => "password" to change the various passwords.
Have a good day everyone.

Thank you mdecorte! Indeed, this way we can change the passwords for the 3 logins. However, should we change all 3 passwords, since if someone can access our box and we only changed the password for the "alice" login, they can simply enter through the root or admin logins... What do you think?
Thank you for your response!

Hello,
Indeed, it is preferable to change all the passwords because by default, the alicebox does not restrict by MAC address at the Wi-Fi network level, so if someone were to find your WEP key, they could then take full control of your alicebox. Of course, if this issue were to occur, you would just need to reset the alicebox.
Good evening.

Hello Sebwave,
I can't remember the default password for the "support" account. But if you log in with the "root" user, the password is "h4y2svl0" or "v8r7u43y" depending on the versions of alicebox, then go to "management" => "access control" => "password". You will then be able to change the password for the "support" account. It seems to me that with the "root" account, you'll be able to do more things than with the "support" account.
Hoping I've answered your question, I wish you a great end of the day.

Hello,
Personally, I really like the new web administration interface of the alicebox, which offers very good readability of the information. Lucy is right, we can no longer log in as "root". I will try to share this new password with you a bit later.
Have a great day, everyone.

Hello,
I read earlier in the conversation that with version 2 of the Hitachi Alice Box firmware (AH4021), it is no longer possible to connect via telnet...
Indeed, every time I try to access it, I get the following message:
"> telnet 192.168.1.1
Connecting to 192.168.1.1... unable to open a connection to the host, on port 23: Connection failed"
Has anyone managed to access it since?
Actually, I would like to try to access it to increase the WiFi power to 100%

At Alice, there is a very simple way to access the modem to set the router mode, open ports (eMule, etc.), the Wi-Fi key, IP addresses, etc.
You just need to go to the website aliceadsl.fr, client area, enter your credentials, and there you will find your account where you can fully configure your Alicebox (that's what I've always done, I have the white modem, the latest one.), it works very well.
