Startup: Black screen, No beep Solved/Closed

Hello everyone,
I have collected various peripherals from different PCs to build a new one.
I have a motherboard like this:
VIA VT82C69AX for the northbridge
VIA VT82C686A for the southbridge
Ref: Medion 2000 Ver:1
After assembling the machine, when I turn on the PC, I don't get any display even though the motherboard fan is running, and the hard drive as well.
I initially thought it was a graphics card issue, which I then replaced without success (I tried AGP 2x, 4x, and PCI on 2 different screens: CRT and flat).
Following various messages I found here and there, I tried changing my power supply, still without success.
I then went back:
I took the motherboard and power supply out of the case to perform external tests.
Step by step:
Power supply + motherboard = no beep, fans are running
Power supply + motherboard + RAM = no beep, fans are running
Power supply + motherboard + RAM + HDD = no beep, fans are running, HDD too
Power supply + motherboard + RAM + HDD + graphics card = no beep, fans are running, HDD too, and still no display.
Have you ever encountered this problem? What could be the cause?

Hello, I know this topic is a bit outdated, but I've been having a similar problem recently, and since it's resolved, I'm posting it—this might help others. So here's the gist: after removing and reinserting a RAM stick, the PC starts up but has a black screen and no beeps at startup... Anyway, I'll skip all the tests like "removing this peripheral, etc." to get straight to the point that it was (at least) one of the RAM slots that wasn't working anymore: I must have damaged it while handling the stick... So I put both sticks in the other two slots (I have four), and it worked perfectly again. And yes, I know, that’s what I should have tested right away since it was the last thing I manipulated, but I'm a klutz -_-. For your information, I have a P4P800 motherboard and a Pentium 4. There you go, hoping this helps others avoid wasting their time...

Black screen or sleep mode on startup; the PC makes no beeping sounds ==>> So it's a major hardware issue. Either the motherboard or the processor (CPU) is faulty.

Hello everyone,
I'm posting here for information because I just fixed a PC today that had a black screen and wouldn’t restart.
I'll skip the numerous hardware tests I performed before this PC finally restarted.

*For your information, here are the symptoms this PC had =>
it shut down abruptly while browsing the internet, wouldn't restart, complete black screen, the fans were running, the "Asus" logo was on, all peripherals were fine, so the problem could either be a faulty motherboard (very likely) since there was NO BEEP during the various startups or a faulty processor (possible but very unlikely).

*So here are the two things I did=>

1.) The only thing I hadn't tried yet was swapping the 2 memory sticks (2* 1GB) from the yellow slots to the black ones, so I did that.

2.) I unplugged the power supply cord, removed the motherboard battery and set the "CLRTC" jumper to positions 2 and 3 to perform a ClearCmos and waited a good minute (better to be sure).

3.) I left the memory sticks in the black slots, moved the "CLRTC" jumper from positions 2-3 back to 1-2 (normal position), replaced the battery (I had forgotten my tester at home) and reconnected the power supply cord.
Fortunately, the PC restarted (don’t forget to take a quick tour in the BIOS to reconfigure the boot settings, language, date, and time…

I hope this can help you a bit, and take the opportunity while the PC is open to do a proper cleaning and delicately clean the various fans and, for the best, change the thermal paste.

Hello,
I’m contributing to this forum by sharing my experience from this morning.
At startup, there was no screen (black, no BIOS, nothing...), no beeps, but the fans are running, and the LEDs on the motherboard and graphics card are lit.
Following the advice above, I removed the two RAM sticks, and I heard beeps at startup (one long and two short).
I then put one stick back in its original slot. And now, the machine started up normally.
So it’s either the RAM stick that is dead, or the slot.
In any case, a RAM failure can cause a black screen without beeping at startup.
