Freebox stuck on 88:88 ......

Good evening,

I have a big problem with the Freebox. Two days ago, the mosaic wasn't displaying. I turned it off and on again. Nothing.
I ended up unplugging and replugging it, and now it no longer shows the time; it displays 88:88 and doesn't respond to any button. The hotline tells me it's the power supply and they will send me a cable, but I'm skeptical... Have you had this problem?

Best regards

Aurore

It's indeed a power supply issue. I had the same case, and as soon as I reconnected the new power supply, everything went back to normal... The problem is that it was last year, and now it's apparently happening again. It seems to be a well-known issue with Free... Otherwise, why would they change it for you for free?????? One advice: don't wait to make the request, because the bills still come in... and the sending is quick, between 4 days and a week max. Cheers, Fanfan.

So, actually, it's not searching. It stays on 88:88 as if that were the time basically, but it doesn't move at all and remains at 88:88 all the time. It hasn't done anything else, no time, no stuff moving like usual when it's searching. Nothing. It's frustrating.

8888 transformer is broken.
Don't try to buy one in stores, it won't work.
Contact them and they will send you a nearly identical one.

Hello,
I have the same problem. I was watching TV last night and the screen froze like many times before. But usually, after a few small operations, everything would get back to normal. Unfortunately, this time, it remains stuck on 888. I don't trust the Free Hotmail, as I encountered it back in 2007. Unbundling occurred in 2007 in my town when I had already been with Free since 2005. Suddenly, a crawler appeared on the Freebox... After all the tests requested by the hotline, it became evident that the problem was not on my end but somewhere else. Free, despite registered letters, emails, calls to the hotline, faxes, etc., did nothing and it lasted more than a month.... I eventually requested France Telecom to intervene myself, and there I learned that Free had forgotten me when unbundling. A "jumper" was missing for my line. Maybe Free wasn't initially responsible for this connection error, but what I blame them for is never having sent anyone to check it or intervened with France Telecom for the "jumper" to be restored. This problem ruined my life for over a month. And I see that everything is starting again. What should I do? Thank you for your help.

hi, hi,

(I'm not a pro, but if it was the power supply, there shouldn't be anything, but anyway)
specify your issue, do you mean that when you turn on the box it immediately shows 88:88 and nothing happens afterwards, or do you still get the scrolling light and then you're stuck

if you have the scrolling light
try a hard reboot,
you plug it in, as soon as the time appears and the scrolling starts, unplug it, do this five times in a row.

if you stay stuck on the scrolling light going like a snake from right to left, it means you're not synchronizing, and there's an issue with the phone line (FT) or the socket, or the phone cable

Hello, does the Free hotline really exist??? loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool I am with Free and like all Free users, I've learned to manage on my own because the hotline is useless. But a website dedicated to Free problems has been created to address Free's recurring incompetence, since all they care about is your money. Take a look here: http://lefreenaute.net/

I have a problem, you have the solution. You have a problem, I might have the solution.

Hello everyone,

I've had free for 2 WAY TOO MANY PROBLEMS but this one has been the most annoying. ME 88:88 appears and right after that, the slow wheel starts spinning. I'm on a low-speed backup wireless network, in short, it's a nightmare and I can't connect with my ethernet. has anyone encountered this problem?
I wish you all the best possible connections with free
Regards

I've had Free for two years without too many problems. Sorry for my clumsiness, it's just driving me crazy.

Don't look for it, it's a power supply issue!!! It needs to be changed and you should get a 12V 1.7A.

Absolutely agree with AZ:
It's the transformer that has given up the ghost.
Order one from Free.fr (they know the problem and will send it to you.)

I just encountered the problem, Free replaced the power supply and it's still 88:88. So I unplugged the power supply 5 times in a row and miraculously it works again.

Hello

I had the same problem a few days ago, I called the hotline, they sent me a "transformer" and it worked perfectly again.

There you go, I hope I helped you, basically, call the hotline, despite the cost...

I've been with Free for 4 years and I've never had any problems, so all of you who aren't happy, go get a good old crappy subscription with Orange that you'll pay through the nose for and you'll be twice as annoyed with a Livebox than with a Freebox!!!
