SCART to VGA Diagram? Solved

Question

Hello  I want to create a wiring SCART->VGA to connect the VGA input of my CRT screen to the SCART output of the FreeBox (or game console, or VHS player, or DVD...)  So I want to assemble a cable SCART on one side (to connect to the SCART output) and female VGA on the other to connect the screen (so for acquisition)  I am looking for a wiring schematic, if anyone has a clue, thanks in advance... ;)   A RCA>VGA or S-Video>VGA setup could also work (I can find an adapter afterward...)  PS: I found the reverse setup: VGA>SCART, but that doesn't work, of course...

Hello,  It's pretty normal that it's not working and your screen stays black because the sync isn't being sent! Even if you send the RGB, without sync, your LCD or CRT screen doesn't know what to do... I just tested with a cable designed for a VIDEO PROJECTOR. My screen still stays black... It even says "no signal" even though the RGB is coming through the wires!  So we need to find a way to send those sync signals, either by creating them (box for 70 euros) or by adding them to the DB15, which I can't do since it's molded!*

Hello,  As far as I remember, the VGA connector has sync pins for the screen, which are not available on the Scart pins.  Without sync, the screen will not work. Hello,  It is not just a simple binding adaptation, but a signal conversion. For your information, it is possible to find a small box (with a remote control) that fulfills this function for about €70 at Surcouf.

Hello, I'm also interested. I found cables of this type for much cheaper, but I have a problem: what about the sound? How do we do that? Because on the Freebox, the sound comes out via the Peritel, and there’s no auxiliary jack, and the VGA doesn’t carry sound, and anyway, my screen doesn't have speakers. So what do we do? ^^ I have a 17-inch flat screen that’s useless to me, and I don't want to shell out 200 euros for a TV. ^^

I am going to connect my satellite receiver to my LCD screen, so SCART to VGA. It's relatively simple with an LM1881 integrated circuit that provides both sync signals (vertical + horizontal) and the cost is modest.  I will keep you updated.

Hello,  I just bought a SCART to VGA cable to connect my Numericable box to a Samsung 226B screen...  The problem is that it doesn't work... I made sure with the Numericable technical service that the SCART output of the TV decoder was indeed RGB... I have no image... the screen remains black!!   If anyone can advise me, I don't know if it's a synchronization issue or not!!

Hello, Following the progression of high definition, since I'm still using non-HD devices, I would like to connect these devices to a flat screen or a CRT PC screen via the VGA port.  Specifically for game consoles like NES, SNES, Mega Drive, etc.  I want to keep the Scart connector intact, so no composite output; I want RGB.  So if someone had a link to an RGB to VGA device, that would be great.  It would also need to have audio outputs wired to send to a hi-fi system or something similar.  Otherwise, I know there are monitors with a Scart input directly, but I haven't been able to find any.  If you have any links, I’m interested. Thanks!

To connect my Freebox to my screen, I set up the following:  Freebox > Peritel/RCA adapter > PC Input TV Card + Kastor TV (freeware)  So the image is limited by the Composite connection, but in my opinion, the quality of Freebox TV is average anyway... The result is OK.

Hello guys,  I’m also looking for this type of gear. I’d like to connect my DVD player to an old 19-inch TFT screen equipped with a DVI-D port and a HD-15 (VGA) port. I’m struggling just as much as you are. I doubt that this cable sold on eBay will work, but I could be wrong. I’m interested in feedback on this cable. No no no! Scart -> VGA won't work, because the VGA sync signals are not transmitted by the digital terrestrial television decoder! Only projectors can receive the signals from the TNT with such a cable because they have their own internal sync. You either need to synchronize with a small electronic setup or consider an HDMI -> VGA cable and buy a TNT demodulator equipped with an HDMI output; these are available now and not too expensive, and they allow you to receive TNT in HD!
Be careful, I'm not sure that the HDMI to VGA will work... I know that HDMI can be converted to DVI, and DVI to VGA, but I'm not sure if the sync is there! Needs testing...

Hi everyone

I just tested the following setup: DVD player with HDMI output, HDMI -> DVI adapter, DVI -> VGA adapter, VGA monitor.
It doesn't work for me, even with the lowest HDMI resolution.
The monitor doesn't say "Cable not connected," but it doesn't display anything either.

It might work with other configurations, to be seen.

For 50 euros, there is a device that transforms the Vega signal into peritel or peritel Vega. It is the only way to connect a computer screen to a Livebox or a DVD player. The cable is only for retro use and it will be on sale Tuesday. I will get this device and let you know.

Good evening,
just to move things along :lol: I want to point out that in principle when using the RGB from the SCART:
pins 7-11-15 we add the fast switching pin 16 and it seems to me that the sync signals are taken from the composite video output pin 19; the sound comes out through pins 1 and 3 and the ground is on pin 4; it doesn't seem necessary to use pin 8 for slow switching which only serves to send 12v to the receiving SCART to switch it.
The audio output from the SCART needs an amplifier to drive a speaker. (a simple amplifier costing 6 to 10€ is sufficient)

Good evening everyone,

I have a little information regarding the connections of a Freebox to a computer screen for those whose screen is equipped with an HDMI input: buy an HDMI cable, connect one end directly to the Freebox while taking the sound elsewhere via the original SCART cable, then the other end directly to the screen. This should result in a male-to-male HDMI cable, to be confirmed.

To connect a Freebox to a computer screen using VGA cables, there is a site that sells a manual VGA switch with a VGA output, which allows you to connect an HDMI-VGA cable, available at Surcouf, with the VGA side going to the switch and the monitor cable connected to the switch, all with an output cable going to the screen. Once the setup is complete, select the port corresponding to either the Freebox or the computer, all for a modest price of about 50 euros for the switch box, the sound cables, the HDMI/VGA cable, and a male-to-male VGA/VGA cable.

I ordered this setup, and I hope the box works well.

I have the same problem connecting the Freebox RGB output in analog to a flat-screen computer monitor that only has a VGA input without needing a TV or computer
In principle, the Freebox should be configured for RGB output and not video
The R G B outputs should be on the male scart connector that is connected to a female scart with a female scart to male VGA cable
In addition to the R G B signals, horizontal sync is also needed

I will try this solution without any guarantee of success because the encoding of the R G B signals may be different between TV and computer
