Normal number of bytes received and sent

Hello,
I just noticed that the number of bytes received by my connection is over 112,000,000 and bytes sent are 25,500,000 while I'm only using MSN and Firefox. Is that normal or is it too high? I'm asking this question because a friend told me that he realized he had a Trojan horse because of that when he saw the high number of bytes being received and sent.

    It's perfectly normal,
    if you calculate you'll find that you've received
    for example: 2,000,000 bytes = 2 MB for 4 minutes, since the beginning of your connection. If you've been online for a long time and have browsed and downloaded a lot, you could even reach up to 2 GB or more.

    whether it's normal or not, it means nothing: it depends on how long you've been connected and what you're doing on your PC.
    for example, right now, I have 1 million packets received and 3 million sent on mine (after a certain time, Windows displays the packets, plus the bytes)
    but with netstat - e, we have both:
