Hello,
I have a video on which I would like to embed subtitles.
I have an .avi file for the video and the .srt for the subtitles.
I know that VLC plays both together, no worries: here I want to save, i.e., export the subtitles into the movie to have a single file that I could upload to YouTube for example afterwards.
What software have you tested do you recommend please?
Thanks :p
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.6.12

Hello,
I personally use VirtualDub with VOBSub.
Other software can do it too, like Avi ReComp or Pocket DivX Encoder (sometimes you have to adjust the subtitle dimensions or choose a different font, if I remember correctly), and certainly many others.
For VD, this software natively only supports subtitles in SSA, so you have to do it differently to integrate SRT files into the video.
1- You can use the small SRTtoSSA software, but I don't really like this method because sometimes the subtitle files get "damaged" due to special characters during the conversion: http://www.planetenumerique.com/guides-dossiers/Subtitler-VobSub.html?Subtitler-VobSub=
2- With VOBSUB: VirtualDub--> Open the video then --> Video --> Filters --> Add --> Load (to manually add a filter) --> VSFilter.dll (so remember to search for DLL files to speed things up) --> Open --> Filters --> TextSub --> and you open your SRT subtitle file.
All that's left is to convert the original video file to get an output file with the embedded subtitles.
I do not use M4NG but made by the same developer as Ri4M (which is no longer developed), it must be excellent ;)
Best regards
