Hello everyone
I'm really stuck with my laptop PB:
I installed Win7 to replace XP.
The thing is: All the drivers are found except... there's no sound!!
The driver is recognized since the cursor at the bottom right of the screen moves with the music.
To fix this, I modified some settings in the control panel, but it doesn't seem to be the issue.
I checked that my Win7 works well on another laptop, which is the case.
I used another sound driver for Vista, but still nothing.
I went to ma-config.com, but nothing new there.
I've been scouring forums for a week and honestly, nothing I've found addresses the problem.
I'm hesitating to try updating the BIOS, which might solve the headache.
What I don't understand is that XP and Ubuntu work perfectly.
HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!
I'm losing my mind

Hello,
Go to Audio Controllers ... in Device Manager, uninstall your sound card and restart.
Win 7 should detect your sound card and reinstall it automatically.

Try this Vista driver --> audio
If it doesn't work, install it manually:
Go to Device Manager
Right-click on the device in question
Update Driver
Check: not this time
Install from a list or specified location
Don't search
Have Disk
Browse to go to the unzipped folder
Select the .inf file, open....,
Restart and see what happens.

There’s no reason to mention it,
It’s a driver for Vista --> Analog Devices AD1986A taken from the Packard Bell site, but you have to install it manually for it to work.
Have a good evening.

Hello,
I would like to leave a comment even though the last message dates back to 2010 because I have the same problem with my computer. I reformatted my PC to switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 Ultimate, but since then I have no sound. The computer tells me that the speakers are not connected, even though they are. I have followed the advice and created a report of my computer, and I hope someone can help me as well.

Thank you in advance for your help. -
Hello Hirka,
Try this driver --> audio
--
Human beings are at their best when things are at their worst. -
Thank you for your response, I installed the driver but unfortunately I still have no sound.
In the sound devices, there is Realtek Digital Output which is set as the default device and the speakers are not connected. -
Go to the control panel, audio devices, do you have other options for the default device in audio playback?
--
Human beings are at their best when things are at their worst. -
-
Go to the Device Manager, see if there are any question marks and which ones?
Also, provide the list that appears under audio controllers.
--
Humans are at their best when things are at their worst. -
There are no question marks and in the audio controllers, there are:
NVIDIA High Definition Audio
Realtek High Definition Audio -
Is the green wire properly connected to the right green socket behind the PC?
--
Human beings are at their best when things are at their worst. -
Yes, I tried connecting the speakers to the ports at the front and back of the CPU, and my speakers work on another computer.
-
Check the audio options to ensure that the audio outputs are properly configured.
--
Humans are at their best when things are at their worst. -
-
In the control panel, audio hardware and see in manage audio devices.
--
Human beings are at their best when things are at their worst. -
This is where I see that my speakers are listed as not connected and that the only device that is functioning is Realtek Digital Output. When I check the properties of my speakers, it says that they are working properly.
