Connect external hard drive to motherboard

Hi. To keep it simple and effective, you open your computer, and you plug the power supply into the disk. Then, you look for a connection cable, SATA or IDE, that you connect to both the motherboard and the disk at the same time, which serves as the bandwidth.

When starting your PC, you go through the boot menu to boot from the correct hard drive, and that's it.

Hello, you open the case of your external hard drive, you extract the hard drive from it, then it’s either an IDE drive (which I doubt), in which case you connect it to the motherboard with an IDE ribbon as a slave to the primary drive (if there is one), or it's SATA, in which case you simply connect the drive to a SATA port on the motherboard.

But why don’t you just connect your external hard drive via USB?

do I have to go through the boot menu (my first disk (with Windows) will still have priority??) otherwise I don’t see why to change the priority

Only 2 SATA ports on this motherboard.
Your system drive is connected to SATA 1, connect the second one to SATA 2 and connect the power like the first one.
If the SATA 2 port is occupied by a CD or DVD drive, unplug it and put your drive in its place.
You shouldn't need to touch the BIOS, SATA1 should be prioritized.
