SLC.dll file error at startup

Hello,

Last night I had a problem with my laptop.
When restarting it, a message in English explained that a disk needed to be checked. I let it do its thing. Then, after clicking on my session and entering my password, the following error message appeared:

"c:\windows\system32\slc.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Please reinstall the program using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or software vendor for support."

I also tried to start in safe mode, but that turned out to be useless.
Windows Seven was already installed on the computer when I bought it, so I don't have an installation CD. I also read that reinstalling would delete my files.

I haven't found any resolution for this problem anywhere...

If you have any ideas, I'm open to suggestions!
Thanks.

Hello Eric,

thank you for your response.

Could you please tell me how to perform a system restore?

The fact is that I can't start my computer. I can't get past the login screen. After entering my password, I get the error message. And nothing happens next.
No booting.

Have you tried starting in safe mode? Yes, sorry, I didn't see that, but with the F8 key, it should start in that mode.

In safe mode too, once the password is entered, I validate and the same error message appears...

Hello

According to your responses, it seems that you did not make a backup on CD/DVD during the first startup?!!
On which computer are you sending your issue and is it the same system?

Best regards

Indeed, there is no backup. I am on a Samsung, running Windows 7.

Hello
with your Samsung (Windows 7), burn the recovery or backup CD and then install it in the other computer to perform a repair. Insert the CD into the drive and boot from it (you need to set the CD drive as the first boot device in the BIOS). During the startup, you will be asked if you want to do an installation or a repair; choose the repair option by pressing R and let the CD proceed.

Best regards

P.S.: Here is a website that will explain to you how to create a recovery console CD (Windows 7) if you prefer:

Thank you for your response.
I was mistaken because I misunderstood your question earlier. I am actually writing from a Compaq under Vista; it is the Samsung that won't start.
I could always make a recovery or backup disk on someone else's computer that also has Seven, right?
And start my Samsung with that famous backup CD?
Best regards.

To check especially that it is the same version (Family for Family, Windows 7 Ultimate for Windows 7 Ultimate).

Here I am a little later than expected, taking the time to find a solution and reviewing the different interventions, and with "untenshu" you really have the solution. Sorry for returning so late.
Good evening
