Hello
I'm using Word 2003 and I would like to know if it is possible to set footnotes in two columns because I have quite a lot of notes, but my notes area would take up less space if I put them in two columns.
Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, how to do it?
Thank you very much!!!
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.5.13

Hello Pwyll
The notes will be in columns if the text (with the footnote references) is in columns.
...but I seriously doubt that you will gain in space, let alone in readability

Ah, shit. Well, reading fluidity, I think so, because when at least a third of the page is taken up by footnotes, it's not great... there it's neither fluid nor aesthetic...
I have books with footnotes in 2 columns, it's very good, too bad that with Word it's not possible then :-(

Yes, but Word is just a word processing software, not a DTP software for publishers and printers!

the right answers never come too late because there are other readers, but you should just specify that you have the Word 2013 version as this option is not available in previous versions, and the requester even mentioned 2003.
Thank you for pointing out this possibility,

Tab Insert -> Footer --> Blank (three columns)
To add a page number, in the footer, select the column to modify, for example column 3, then:
Tab Insert -> Page Number -> Current Position -> and make a selection
It is not at all about pagination (page number), which is placed in a footer, but about footnote, placed in the text area, before the footer!
Someone asked me how to insert page numbers when there are 3 columns. Searching on Google, I ended up here, which allowed me to find the answer even though Pwyll's question was quite different.
Thank you
