ITunes Music missing tracks on iPhone

Synchronizing iPhone/iTunes has become a real nightmare.

1. My iPhone cannot hold my entire library.
2. I created an "iPhone" playlist in iTunes that contains the tracks I want on my iPhone (4S).
3. In iTunes, I specify that I only want this playlist:

4. I have a track that looks OK in the playlist:

5. I sync, no errors reported, but the track is not transferred to the iPhone:

6. Yet iTunes seems to have tried ("seems" because of the dotted circle)


[a few trials and searches later ...]

7. The iPhone has 800Mb of free space -> it's not a space issue
8. I copy the .m4p file to a temporary folder, delete the song in iTunes (file->trash), reimport it (drag/drop), add it back to my playlist
9. I sync and (1) I see the message "copying What's your number" in iTunes and (2) the dotted circle disappears, but THE SONG REMAINS UNFINDABLE on the iPhone.

Totally incomprehensible!

My last hypothesis is that the iPhone refuses to play the track due to DRM.

Any other ideas/suggestions?

I just had an Apple technician, after 1 hour and 15 minutes, we found a solution: create a new library.

On Windows:
close itunes; hold down the SHIFT key and double-click the itunes icon on the desktop; then follow the procedure (new folder...) and re-import your music.

For my part, this solution worked, I don't know if it works on Mac...

Hello there, I have the solution:

If iTunes is not syncing certain tracks, it’s because those tracks have been moved on your PC or in a modified folder (like the name), which means iTunes can no longer locate your tracks.

The step to follow: Go to iTunes, and on the far left, you should normally see your playlists where you placed your tracks.
Now, in each playlist, look for the tracks that have a small sign (like an exclamation point). Now, double-click on the track and click 'Locate'.
Then go to the folder containing that track and once found, open it.

There you go, now do this for all the other tracks that iTunes can't find and finish with a 'Sync' and your problem will be resolved!

Same for me...
I have about 3000 songs on iTunes, a list slowly built over the years with various formats, imports from different sources, transfers from my old CDs, purchases, etc... so far no problems.
But here it is: I bought an iPhone 6s Plus for Christmas and.... it only syncs 684 songs...
I do the same process on my old iPod, no issues. Everything is perfect.
The songs are all present on iTunes but not all of them sync...
I don’t understand...
Apple must have further locked down its ecosystem... It’s exhausting.
Do I need to convert all the files to AAC?

I don't know if you finally found a solution, but for my part, I used the software "Copy Trans," which is an alternative to iTunes.
All my sounds were transferred successfully, unlike iTunes.

It's very simple! You need to go to the name of your device (iPod, iPhone...) in iTunes, then click on the "Music" tab located between "Apps" and "Movies". Here, check "Entire music library". There you go! (:
