Hello,
after sending my PC to the factory, I reinstalled Norton 360 on my Compaq 900e (HP) running Windows Vista, and since then I can't get my LEXMARK series 1200 printer to work. I contacted Lexmark and according to their checks, it seems that Norton is blocking access from my printer to my computer, but I don't know what to do, and what if it wasn't Norton? I already had Norton on this PC, I reinstalled it and since then, unfortunately, nothing works after a thousand tries in every direction!!!!! If a kind person on this site could help me... I send you big hugs!!! LOL!!!!!! Thank you for your help. Daisy.

Configuration: Windows Vista / Internet Explorer 7.0

Indeed, the recent versions of Norton block the ports for printing; I've experienced this myself, I had exactly the same problem and had to go into the firewall rules to allow the port to communicate with the computer, bypassing that damn firewall, there are no other words...

Good evening,

I assume you’ve already tried uninstalling Norton (which isn’t always easy) and checking that your printer in the control panel is active and set as default.
It seems dubious to me that Norton could be blocking your printer.
Have you tried installing another printer (you must have someone who could lend you one).

See you later

Grandpa

You have already made good progress, Daisy, with the uninstallation of the antivirus... Now you need to go to the printers and remove the printer that is currently installed on your computer, if that's the case. Otherwise, you need to start the printer installation from scratch using the installation CD if you have it...

The CD is useless to me now because I was XP before! I'm Vista... Lexmark can't do anything for me; it's up to me to find the problem! And I don’t know where to turn because honestly, it’s annoying!!! It worked very well before the reset, and it tells me that my printer cannot communicate with my computer? I am going to explode with technology!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Darn it!!!!! And I'm sure it's not a big deal, but we have to FIND IT!!!!!!!!!! Always HELPHELPHELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs, Daisy

theanswer94 I'm waiting for you. I'm okay with communicating on Messenger, but how do I get your email address? I'm not blonde after all... I never communicate this way. I understand if you don't have time anymore, it's okay, or if I'm annoying!!!! I know it's less serious!!!! Thank you for your pleasant kindness. See you soon, maybe? Daisy

Hello,

Have you done a self-test on your printer?
Just in case, have you checked your connection cable and electrical plug?
In the printer management, do you see your printer and is it active?
Unplug the printer for a few minutes.

Uninstall the printer completely. Restart the PC to see if it detects it automatically and starts the driver installation.

Uninstalling Norton requires a small special software that can be downloaded from the Norton website.

See you later,

pépé

Thank you, grandpa, but everything you're telling me I've done a million times. The problem is somewhere else, but where?
