I'm not receiving all my Gmail messages. Solved

Hello,

I created a Gmail account in December 2009.

At home, I check my messages via Outlook 2007 and at work or on the go, I access the Gmail portal. The advantage is that the messages consistently appear in both.

The problem is that I regularly have correspondents telling me they've sent a message, yet I never received it! Has anyone else experienced the same difficulties or do you know what this could be due to? I have searched the Gmail help, but I can't find anything.

And do you think it's possible for me to retrieve a message sent a week ago, for example?

My email account is configured in pop/smtp under Outlook... do you think it would be wiser to switch to imap? Or does it not have any influence?
(both pop and imap are enabled on the Gmail portal)

I have exactly the same problem; I am no longer receiving emails in my Gmail account even though I log in on the official site.

I don’t understand, and it’s very annoying; I missed a job offer because of this.

Does anyone know how to contact Google France (if that exists) or have a real useful solution?

Switch from Outlook to Thunderbird, it's much more efficient:

Thank you LordMacDragus, but...

1) I doubt that the issue specifically comes from Outlook since the messages not received are also not available on the Gmail portal

2) I will not abandon Outlook for the simple reason that it is the software that serves as my interface with my PDA (iPaq)

... I do see, however, that your second link explains how to set up the email software in IMAP. I have long since figured out how to do this in Outlook, but I wanted to know if there is any benefit to doing that, if it would solve my problem or not?

Configuring the software using the IMAP protocol can solve the problem since with this protocol, you access the emails directly on the GMail server, whereas with the POP protocol, the emails are downloaded to a local folder on your PC.

Summary:

By using the IMAP protocol, Outlook connects directly to the GMail inbox, so there should be no more issues receiving emails.

So give it a try...

Thank you LordMacDragus, I will therefore try the configuration with the IMAP protocol...

However, regarding the messages I’m missing, well, they are not even on the GMail server: not even in the spam!!
They seem completely lost in the wild and I know they exist only because my correspondents tell me they have written to me...

Even though switching Outlook to IMAP will be more "clean," I am not sure it will solve my problem...?

Otherwise, I checked the settings on the GMail server, but I didn’t notice anything special regarding any kind of security level (and I haven’t applied any filters...). All the settings are actually at default...

Help !!!

Since I changed my Mac and I'm also using IMAP, I'm no longer receiving my emails... this has been going on for a while, and I'm worried that my emails are not reaching their recipients!
In my opinion, my computer is not the issue. I'm seriously fed up.
Do you have any advice? I'm with Orange.

abandon Outlook, Thunderbird and the like and switch to the cloud, you check your emails in your inbox via Firefox, Chrome, IE, etc.

This way, you won't miss any emails, you have nothing to synchronize, you won't lose anything

Basically, I don't even understand people who use specific software for emails... totally unnecessary nowadays.

I have exactly the same problem, which is that I don't receive emails from people who are writing to me for the first time... and I think this started since the change to Gmail with its tabbed interface... It's obviously very embarrassing.

Can someone tell me who or how to contact Gmail?

Same issue since September 2nd (5 days). Emails are no longer coming in, and the emails I send go out but do not appear in the sent items folder. Is this a Google bug that will be resolved?

you are scary. google filters what you receive. if you were to receive an email that is well-secured, you wouldn't receive it because it is untraceable and google doesn't allow that.
