Graphics memory issue gta IV

Hello,
I have a laptop that is 2 weeks old. The problem I have is simple: there is 1.7GB of available graphics memory for gaming. However, when I start the game and go to graphics settings, it shows in "resources used" that the available graphics memory is only 59MB, which is ridiculous. I have created a "command line" that exceeds this limit, but I’m facing full graphics memory issues... I just want to know how to "unlock" the 1.65GB of graphics memory that I can't use in GTA IV.
I have reinstalled the game 7 times on the PC, and I spend 1 to 2 hours a day trying to solve this problem, and it’s becoming seriously annoying and frustrating...
Here are my specs:
-Windows 7
-Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 430 @ 2.27GHz (8 cores, supports the latest PC games according to the seller)
-4GB RAM
-NVidia GeForce 310m graphics card with 1.7GB of available graphics memory for games
-120GB+380GB hard drive
-Screen resolution 1366x768
-The PC loads the internet, games quickly, and is capable of running several heavy programs simultaneously. GTA IV runs well, but the frame rate seems low, as if the graphics card is throttled... or not performing well enough.
Is there a solution???

8 cores? Impossible, that doesn't exist yet :)
Your graphics card seems to be able to support GTA 4, so start by updating it: https://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-257.21-whql-driver-en.html
Be careful, the link I provided is if you have Windows seven 64 bits.
If you have Windows seven 32 bits: https://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-257.21-whql-driver-en.html

Thank you very much, but the drivers update automatically. I think it's somewhere in the PC; we need to find out where and how to manage the graphics memory, but it's impossible to know where it is (I managed to go into NVIDIA settings, I set everything to quality +, but it doesn't change anything...).
Normally, unless I'm mistaken, we don't manage the graphics memory. Everything is in the "Nvidia configuration." Set the graphics of GTA to the lowest and see what it does.
I just set everything to minimum. But the bug got worse: now all the textures are transparent; there are only the cars and pedestrians walking in the void. The same happens when I lower the resolution: I have to set everything to over 50/100 for the textures to be visible (and the resolution at maximum).
I forgot to mention that I installed patches 1.0.1.0 and 1.0.2.0. If I try other ones, the game won't launch anymore.
It's quite annoying to know that we have a system with 1.7GB of graphics memory and we can't play a game that sometimes works with just 512MB of graphics memory! This is not normal. I'm going to try now to lower the graphic settings on "nvidia configuration".

Look here for dedicated memory: http://www.bestofmicro.com/guide/base-Carte-graphique,4-aWRHdWlkZT0zMCZpZENsYXNzZXVyPTUxJmlkUnVicmlxdWU9MjQy.html
But where do you get 1.7 GB of memory from?
Send a screenshot if possible.
Otherwise, I found this, https://www.notebookcheck.biz/NVIDIA-GeForce-310M.27338.0.html where it says it has 512.

I went to:
start--->control panel--->view your computer status--->view performance information--->view and print detailed information about performance and system.
Then I looked in the "graphics card" category.
Then there is:
"-Display card type: Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator HD
-Total graphics memory available: 1696 MB
--Dedicated graphics memory: 64 MB
--Dedicated system memory: 0 MB
--Shared system memory: 1632 MB
-Display driver version: 8.16.11.8934
-Main monitor resolution: 1366x768
-DirectX version: 10"
That's it.
There is also, at the top of the page, just below "More information about my computer":
"-Processor: Intel Core...
-RAM: 4.00 GB
-Graphics: ...
-Gaming graphics: 1696 MB total video memory available
-main hard drive..."

I'm not sure what to do about your problem. Do you have any other games as powerful as Call of Duty 4, 5, or 6? If so, do they run well?
No, I only have Carmageddon II (which works excellently). It's not a very big game. But there aren't many big programs either. The computer is very powerful, it runs very fast. I will soon inquire about the graphics card from the seller.
Hi, it's done, the problem is resolved: I installed patch v1.0.1.0, then v1.0.2.0, the universe patch, and patch 1.0.3.0, and the message "GTAIV FATAL ERROR: out of video memory..." disappeared! I reinstalled the game 11 times to get this result! So the problem comes from the game, and not from the graphics card.
11 times, showing that patience pays off! I hope the game is running well at least.

It's not completely resolved because there's another bug (much less annoying than the FATAL ERROR, but still...). Now, at the very beginning of the game, or in the middle of it, sometimes (but not always), when I'm driving a car, the game freezes... The game doesn't lag at all (when it freezes, it's not overloaded... nothing). I don't know where it's coming from... I'm going to start the search for anti-bugs again, here we go again!
Is it during solo or multiplayer? If it's in multiplayer and you're on a Wi-Fi connection, it happens often.
It's in solo. I came across sites that talk about bugs like, in multiplayer, freezing and disconnection, or in solo, with the screen freezing with lots of colors and weird noises, or also with screen freeze and the sound looping (which I have), without error messages. Many forums seem to claim that this bug may come from the screen temperature. But I don't really know how to configure the temperature of the PC on Windows 7. I will search on Google.
Hi,
I hope I’m not responding too late!
You just need to create a shortcut on the desktop, right-click, properties.
Then, you need to add " -norestrictions" in the line where it says "Target".
**Don't forget to put a space between "[...]/Grand Theft Auto IV" and "-norestrictions".
I hope this helped a bit... if not, you can always ask for technical support from the publisher.

For about a year, the game has been running acceptably on all minimum graphics settings. I can't enjoy the best graphics, but at least the game runs... But I will try in the next few days to add "norestrictions". Perhaps the graphics memory is ultimately not powerful enough... we'll see.
I have an Asus X52F with 4 GB of RAM, Core i5 2.66GHz Turbo Boost, Intel HD graphics with 64 MB dedicated and 1632 MB shared memory, running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I set the restrictions to none, but it still detects only 64 MB.
Help please.

Hello, if
If everything doesn't fit in the Target box, remove
If your game is lagging, reduce the "15.0" to another number; continue doing so if your game is still buggy.
Hoping I could help,
Sebastien.
-norestrictionsdoesn't work, you can always try marking
-texturequality=1 -renderquality=1 -detailquality=60 -viewdistance=60 -width=800 -height=600 -shadowdensity=8 -norestrictions -nomemrestrict -percentvidmem=99 -availablevidmem=15.0 -novblank
If everything doesn't fit in the Target box, remove
-novblankIf it still doesn't fit, remove something else, but you must absolutely keep
-availablevidmem=15.0
If your game is lagging, reduce the "15.0" to another number; continue doing so if your game is still buggy.
Hoping I could help,
Sebastien.
