GTA IV - Full Video Memory

K_az -
 pseudo... -
Hello,

Here it is, like many people playing GTA IV on PC, I have this unbearable problem of crashing after a few minutes of gameplay, followed by this message saying "Graphic memory full. Please restart your system."

Here’s my little config:
- Processor: Intel Core i7 920 2.67GHz
- RAM: 7GB (2x2GB DDR3-1600 + 3x1GB DDR3 1333)
- Motherboard: ASUS P6T
- Video card: Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT 1GB
- OS: VISTA ultimate 64bit

If this isn't enough, please let me know, but don’t say it just to dodge the question I’m asking, which is:

- HOW TO FIX THIS GRAPHIC MEMORY ISSUE IN GTA IV???

Too many forums stray into the specs needed. Let's be serious here, even if you have a beast, it still crashes.

- So who has a solution?

- Should we file a petition against Rockstar through "QUE CHOISIR?"

Thank you very much!! ;)
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 3.0.5

Hello
After having the problem with transparent textures, which I was able to solve, I have also encountered this new issue of full graphics memory. After 1/2 minute of playing, even with all the graphical settings decreased, the game crashes with the fatal error: full graphics memory...
And yet, I have a very powerful and recent PC (purchased a few days ago) with this configuration:
4GB of RAM
Processor: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD (Core i5)
Very recent graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 310M (apparently it works already at maximum on the GeForce 100M, and on a 310, I get the fatal error...)
Screen resolution 1366 x 768 60 hertz 32 bits
I will try the patches...

I have already tried with all the patches, but only the second one runs it without bugs.

But by just lowering the texture quality to medium and everything else to max, I was able to play for over 3 hours and it never crashed :)

With my i7 950 and my hd5850, it's still quite ridiculous...

This port is really nonsense!!!

Well, hello everyone! You must know (if you are consistent with CCM) that the game GTA IV on PC is not recommended (why?) because, according to Rockstar's statements, no currently existing machine can run this game at full capacity. If I'm not mistaken in your various cases, there has been a notification of an error in the registry. That said, any other installation attempt will obviously be in vain (except for a complete formatting). Bugs are just that; it's even the essence of this game on PC. But don't be discouraged, huh... (laughs). In any case, I always have suggestions to make:
- Reinstall the drivers for your graphics card
- Formatting: if your hard drive exceeds 80GB, create a partition where you will do another installation of Windows or Linux. Then, it's about reinstalling to confirm what I've said about the notification of errors.
- Ultimate (last help): try to reduce your graphics quality (especially for those who install mods (vehicles, buildings, skins, etc.)) because mods significantly increase the demand for graphics memory. I just recently learned this... in any case, GOOD LUCK!

Hi,

I now have the same problem as you and it's all new to me, I've never had a problem with this game before.

I tried a new driver 185.?? BETA and it didn't help at all.

If you have found a solution

for my part, a Q6600 @ 3.2
GTX280 on Maximus Formula

I reinstalled the game but nothing works.

I have the same problem as you, except that my computer is an Acer, it has 2 GB of RAM, 1.86 GHz, my graphics card is: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family and 2 GB of DDR2 and it doesn't work, so if anyone has a solution?

Well, I have the same problem even though my hard drive has just been formatted. I have an i7 920 with 2 ATI 4890 graphics cards in Crossfire, and the game runs very well for 30 minutes to an hour, then I get the fatal error "out of video memory." I've set the game to a light configuration, so it should run fine, but it doesn't -_-'.

If your graphics card is new, contact your supplier if you purchased it as a business. I advise you to discuss it with your seller. However, if you can, try another graphics card to check if it's your graphics card that has a problem, or try a game like Devil May Cry 4 to see if it's the graphics card or the game that is causing issues.
Good luck, guys! I can't even afford the luxury of buying such a graphics card; I envy you just a little bit.

No, it's not brand new and on other games I run everything at max settings and in full HD, but the problem with GTA 4 keeps occurring, which is quite annoying; yet it runs really well and is super smooth even in full HD.

It's true that under normal circumstances, the game should run at full capacity on your machine, so what you should do is check if there's another program running that requires a lot of RAM when you're trying to play GTA4. Otherwise, I would advise you to look in the game's manual at the section "Problems and Bugs" (or something like that) and see if you have an issue that matches; if not, ignore GTA4 and try PROTOTYPE even if it doesn't measure up to GTA4.

I just got GTA 4, I've been playing it for 2 days without any issues, and today after 30 minutes of gameplay, I encountered this ERROR.

Has anyone found a solution to this "Video memory full" problem??

Where could this be coming from??

They really messed things up with this PC port :@

Hi, I had the same problem some time ago. After 30 minutes of play: slowdowns, stuttering, and nothing left to do but restart the computer. Anyway, if you haven't done it yet, go download the latest patch here:

https://support.rockstargames.com/categories/200013096

Since then, I haven't had any problems. If you still have issues after that, lower 2 or 3 options, or simply check the resolution.
Regards!
