Canon Selphy CP1200 Printer Startup Issues

Question

Hello,
I have a brand new Canon Selphy CP1200 printer (never used) and when I press ON, Canon appears on the screen, but then nothing happens and I have to unplug the power to turn it off.
I’m not the only one experiencing this issue, it seems, but I haven't found a solution (if there is one!).
Thank you for your help regarding what to do about this problem.

did you proceed as described in the manual?
-turn on
-raise the screen to 40°
-access the settings screen
etc

I just installed Canon Print on my smartphone, but connecting the Selphy to the Wi-Fi network doesn't seem possible since I can't start the Selphy in question...

Yes, at the risk of repeating myself for the umpteenth time, when pressing ON, the only reaction from the printer is to display Canon on the screen (whether it's raised or not, by the way), and pressing the "Menu" button or any other button makes no difference. The printer makes no noise.
For reference, when I connect the printer to my PC with a USB cable, after pressing ON on the Selphy, my PC recognizes the printer port and sees it as operational, but there is still no change on the printer side, even when pressing any button.

I have exactly the same problem with a Selphy cp 910 that is almost new and that I hadn't used for about 2 years.
