No BIOS, no PC?

Solved

Hello,

If a notebook has lost its BIOS (erased), is there still a way to fix the problem, or is the computer definitively out of order?

Thank you.

Like any computer, the first thing it loads is the BIOS!

The BIOS is the setup of the computer; it controls everything!
If you don't have a BIOS anymore, your computer won't start! A solution is necessary:

    Flashing!

You need to flash the BIOS for it to work again! If it works, great; if it doesn't, your PC is done for, it will fry the motherboard!

It all depends on you ;)

So he's dead, because there's no more BIOS, nothing: the PC doesn't start anything when I turn it on (not even the manufacturer's logo).

    Hi eg33,

    try it this way
you unplug the power, remove the battery
and hold the power button for 10 to 15 minutes, or even 30 to 50 minutes depending on the brand (to reset the BIOS)
(this is to drain the battery since we can't remove it)

if you still have your problem, check with customer service while playing innocent (when you wanted to use it again, it wouldn't start)

      I don't think it's going to work...

There's no BIOS anymore or a corrupted BIOS... It's useless to come up with solutions to reset the BIOS... In this case, flashing is the only solution, if this gentleman doesn't want to use the warranty!

If it had been a RAM issue, the tower would have beeped, so that's not it!

It's not the RAM, it's the BIOS that's involved here, I'm more than certain of that.

If you want to claim the warranty, avoid mentioning your update!

I'm talking about a possible update, in case this gentleman doesn't wish to use the warranty!

So the solutions are open! ^^

I claimed to have installed a new game and then restarted to ensure everything was working properly, and that’s when nothing displayed anymore...

Does it work or not (more or less)?

A game, whatever kind it is, I don't see the connection with the BIOS...
      So I vote "NO"

    Try clearing the CMOS ...

Remove the BIOS battery for 24 hours, then put it back, the BIOS should reset!

For the battery, it's dead: it's a notebook.

And since opening it voids the warranty...
      I hadn't thought of that... :(

on a a laptop, the battery is soldered onto the pins, so the equipment is destroyed
      => warranty VOID

I know that with a computer you can always flash the BIOS (available from the manufacturer), so why not with a notebook.

But if it was flashed incorrectly: the flashing program on the bootable USB erased the old BIOS but did not recreate the new one afterwards!

    Hello,
the only solution available to you is to contact the manufacturer; the BIOS is like a heart for a human. Don't try anything that could worsen the state of your PC. A BIOS can only be written to by the manufacturer.
    Good luck

Have you tried to flash it?

If not, you still have a chance!

I put the BIOS update on a bootable USB key, I started the Batch (flashEC.bat)... Once the computer restarted, nothing happened. I had already done it once in the same way and it worked fine; I don’t understand why it failed this time!

If the BIOS is dead, you won't be able to do any manipulation yourself.
    Otherwise, see here: http://www.recoverybios.com/biosrecovery/Fr/main/main.php

And if I send the notebook back to the manufacturer (MSI), will they be able to repair it as easily as they claim on RecoveryBios.com?

Send it to customer service, if it is still under warranty!

Yes, it is still under the 2-year warranty; I have nothing to pay (the pickup is covered by the manufacturer). If necessary, they will prepare the estimate...

this could also be a RAM memory issue... without RAM it can't start... but in this case, the manufacturer's logo is displayed, which is not your case... otherwise, refer it!
