storm beast on my screen

Question

I have an Acer 1612 laptop and recently a beast of a storm got behind the screen glass, and I don't know how to remove it; I tried to disassemble the screen but I couldn't do it. Thank you for your help.

...sorry for my question: what is a storm beast? Is it an insect?
If yes, I have the same thing on my palm: from time to time, I see a grain gnat pass by! ...it adds a bit of life!!! :-)

...anyway! To disassemble your LCD panel:
- gently open the plastics surrounding the screen.
in certain models, the screws are hidden behind rubber pads.
With a blade, and with a lot of tenderness (for once...) lever at the joint of the frame to unclip the surrounding: Move slowly without getting angry!!!!!

Once the surrounding is removed, disconnect the panel's connectors and its mounting screws. Naturally, you took care to remove the battery and all power sources. Be careful of harmful static discharge to your machine: You need to ground yourself to the metal chassis.

Then remove the metal surround of the screen: the little beast is between the panel and the polarizing filters and/or the light diffuser.
Eradicate the beast with rage because of what it forces us to do. then reassemble everything in reverse order....
I won't hide from you that it's a nice but delicate little job!!

P.S.: forget about the insect issue: you would have a corpse in the middle: it looks bad....

Hello,

I also had some bugs under the protective screen film, I didn't dismantle anything, too risky. I got a small suction cup (like a soap dish suction cup), I slightly lifted the film until
the bug moved to one side of the screen, so the bug is inside but no longer bothers visually. That's for those who don't want to take any risks ^^

just don't kill it by pressing on it, otherwise it will stay stuck. I have a friend who has had one in there for more than 6 months and the carcass of the beast remains inexorably stuck.
I also have one that has been wandering around for 2 days; it disappeared and then came back.
So the screen is on, no bugs in sight, I turned everything off and gave a light spray of bug spray on the monitor's vents.

La suction cup doesn’t work and I’ve tried to take apart the screen but can’t open it. I’ve removed all the screws yet it’s still stuck. It’s frustrating for a flat screen that costs €250 ='( Please help me.

What a nightmare, on my 17" LCD I had 5 or 6

And tonight I saw one crawling on my 22" LCD... so annoyed and of course I squashed it... Has anyone tried to contact the screen manufacturer to see about the warranty?

Same problem for me: I have 4 little bug corpses inside my screen.. They each occupy about 3 pixels in length...
The screen is a year old and I'm glad I took the extended warranty for dead pixels :'(((((

Hi,

My screen was still under warranty: I took it back to FNAC, and they sent it for repair. Results: a sealing issue with the panel, too expensive to fix, and so they gave me a store credit...
It's a shame, but anyway now with the price drop, I have a 21-inch instead of a 17-inch for the same price :p

Hello everyone

I had 3 little critters that got into my flat screen (Toshiba laptop). I disassembled the screen and managed to peel off the filters and other layers that make up the screen to get the little bugs out. I put tape all around the screen to prevent them from getting back in

3 thunderbugs came wandering onto my 17" screen and 1 on my 26". But once they stretched their legs, they left...

I actually wondered what attracted them: warmth? light?
The screen is a glass: the warmth/light comes not only from the panel but also from outside. So if they're looking to sunbathe, the space between the LCD and the glass is a dream solarium for them.

So I placed an opaque cardboard over the turned-off screen (I left just one edge in the daylight), I exposed the back of the screen to the outside light, and the little monsters, finding nothing interesting in the screen, left.

Especially! As long as they're moving, my advice is not to try to kill them! They're best suited to get themselves out of there! Otherwise, your screen will look like a tomb...

Finally, avoid leaving screens on next to open windows, especially during thunderstorms: that's always how I ended up with them.

On the internet, you should be able to find more details about their habits and life expectancy; it's better to play with that. It worked for me.
