Hello, I am new, I am discovering this site and I have a small problem with a Toshiba computer.
Even though I click on the button (to turn on the computer)
nothing appears.
I was told that I needed to change the fan or the battery of the charger!!!
I would like some answers to this problem, thank you for reading this message.....

Hello
first of all, you need to check by plugging your phone in with the adapter that a light comes on; if it doesn't, there are two scenarios: 1-check the outlet in your house
2-check with a tester the voltage output on the jack of your adapter.
good luck

Thank you, but I think we need to change the fan (the power supply).
Hi!
I've had roughly the same issue since Monday (August 22, 2005) with my work laptop. It's a Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100. In fact, if I leave the battery in place, it's impossible to turn it on, even with the power supply plugged in. Here's exactly what happens: when I plug in the power, a led indicator (the leftmost one) lights up green, so that's totally normal. The battery charging indicator is orange, which is normal too, meaning the battery is not fully charged. Everything's fine so far. Now I want to start the computer, I press the button, and then: very briefly, the power indicator (between the power and battery indicators) on the laptop turns green and immediately turns off, while the battery charging indicator also goes out, and the power supply indicator turns to flashing orange (I remind you it was green at the start). Even after several attempts to unplug/replug the power, the same thing happens, noting that in this case, as long as I don't remove the battery, the power supply indicator remains flashing orange, even if I unplug the power; if I remove the battery, we go back to square one, however if after removing/replacing the battery I wait about ten seconds before pressing the power button, it eventually starts.
Anyway, I initially thought it was a battery issue, so I removed it. I ended up in this situation: I still have to wait about ten seconds after plugging in the power before pressing the power button.
At first, I thought it might be more or less normal; maybe there's a capacitor inside that needs about ten seconds to charge or something like that.
In short, at first, I thought I had found the solution, thinking the battery must be faulty, but now I have big doubts since, although plugged into the power supply (without the battery), the laptop has shut down on me several times, completely turning off. Given that I removed the battery, I don't think that could be the issue, but I don't know where the problem might be coming from.
I've had this laptop for over 2 years, and it has never done this kind of thing before.
If anyone has an idea...

Exactly the same problem. After several returns to Toshiba Martinique, they changed the motherboard (under warranty) and yet I still have the same problem... So it's running without a battery. Is it possible that the battery is defective and that it puts the laptop in "safe mode"... If you find out, thank you because I don't want to go back to Toshiba Martinique...
Need help
I received a Toshiba Satellite laptop as a gift that powers on erratically, let me explain:
* when you press the "power" button, the two "power" LEDs light up, the fan spins, and hot air is expelled from the laptop, but the computer itself doesn't start:
* sometimes, however, by pressing the same "power" button, the laptop starts up and works normally.
I have performed the same operation with the laptop plugged in or unplugged, and the result remains the same: it may or may not turn on.
What should I do in my case?
Please provide your answers.

Hi,
I had the same problem as you this weekend. My Toshiba 5100-603 was really slow, I turned it off and then couldn't turn it back on. When I press the power button... nothing happens.
There is actually another topic on this issue below, apparently it could be a virus and the motherboard might be shot.
http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-1438259-demarrage-impossible
Since my PC is no longer under warranty, I'm in a mess. I still need to find out if the hard drive is affected... I'm going to call Toshiba's customer service but I'm not too optimistic, I've heard the wait times are really long!
If anyone has any ideas...
Let's pray together ;-)
See you later!

Hi everyone,
I just called the Toshiba hotline.
So for anyone who's having the same problem as me, which is that the laptop won't start at all, you need to start by doing a little manipulation that's common to all Toshiba laptops to unlock them:
- remove the power supply and the battery
- press the power button for 40 seconds, then reconnect only the power supply and press power again.
If all goes well, the laptop should restart normally.
As for me, it didn't work at all.
Also, there is a way to know the cause of the problem. Everyone must have noticed that when you press the power button, the battery light blinks... it's actually a code to help detect the failure! One short blink followed by one long blink means motherboard issue!
In summary: a motherboard for a non-warranty laptop after 3 years costs 500 euros + 100 euros for the estimate + labor costs.....(according to the hotline). However, if this problem happens to you just 1 or 2 months after your warranty expires, you can still call the hotline, they might give you a commercial gesture! For me, that didn't work either!
In the end, it's hardly worth it; it's better to buy a new laptop, especially given current prices.
The only good news is that in most cases, the hard drive and the memory sticks are not affected. It is therefore possible to recover your data with a USB enclosure for a 2.5-inch hard drive. (between 15 and 35 euros)
See you later
Bye

It's still shameful to see all these Toshiba laptops whose motherboards break in two years! Let's boycott Toshiba, a laptop should last more than two years! lol
Hello,
I don't see what the battery and the fan have to do with this, at least not at the initial stage.
BANSAI is right. What you need to do is check that your laptop is properly powered by the adapter.
A laptop can work perfectly well without a battery, as long as it's powered by the adapter. It's likely that the battery is dead; but if there's no voltage on the jack, that's not surprising.
Unless Toshiba works differently from others, the fan only kicks in when the inside of the PC reaches a certain temperature that is certainly not reached at startup.

Hello,
The jack is the plug at the end of the charger cord, or adapter, or rectifier, call it what you want.
If the lights come on, it means your computer should normally be able to start. If nothing shows up:
It could be a screen problem. In that case, if the sound is on, you should hear the little Windows tune.
Otherwise, it could be a power supply issue with the motherboard: faulty power supply or connector not properly seated on the motherboard. You would need to measure the voltages on the connector.
Lastly, it could be a component of the motherboard: particularly the BIOS, CMOS, or microprocessor.
And then, well...
See you later.

< p > Well, the lights are on but I don’t hear any Windows music. I see that it’s a big problem; I can’t do anything with the laptop, just change the motherboard. < /p >
I had a similar problem, the laptop was left charging too long and the battery overheated, I just took it apart and put it back together and it worked again.
Maxximus < what did you dismantle on your computer because I have the same problem as you, it must have overheated...
well I'm going to change the fan soon and I'll let you know if that's the cause of it all... '' well for my problem ''

Hi
I hope I'm in the right forum, otherwise I'm sorry
For the past 3 days, my Toshiba laptop has been making a strange noise, like clicking; at first, I thought it was the DVD drive, it’s a Satellite P30. Then last night, it started beeping and then showed a black screen with the cursor at the top writing things in English, sorry I didn't note what it said.
And now it doesn’t want to do anything anymore
It’s still under warranty thankfully, but I would like to know if anyone has experienced a problem like this since the laptop is only 5 months old
Thank you in advance.

it could be a virus,
if you find nothing then I advise you to format your PC it's simpler than searching!!!!
good luck
