Hello,
I am currently without answers. I have a TOSHIBA Satellite A100-110 laptop, bought just a year and a month ago (problems always arise quickly once the warranty expires). For the past three days, it has been going haywire and shutting down by itself (without rebooting afterwards)... And since then, the frequency of shutdowns has increased; now I can’t even get past the Windows welcome screen.. (ugh).. and therefore, I can’t access Everest to check the specifications, see, or test the temperature... (I should specify that the fan is working well)
To address this, I have:
- blown out my fan (a bit of dust came out, but not much)
- started in safe mode (without success)
- accessed the BIOS (it still shuts down after about a minute)
- removed the battery and plugged in the power supply (still the same)
- reinserted the battery and unplugged the power supply (in vain)
- disassembled the hard drive (do I need to specify that again??!)...
In short, everything I've read on the forums hasn't brought me anything more than the tests I've done, and in the end, all that just to read that it’s probably the power supply or the motherboard that might be failing...
I'm just asking for a confirmation, even though I know it’s not easy to determine like this; a little help would be a good hand extended to me... Thank you...

Hello, I have the same issues as you described above on a Toshiba Satellite A200 1VC. I disassembled it, blew it off with compressed air, it worked for 3 hours, then crashed again. So I formatted it, installed Windows 7, so there were no crashes during the installation, but now exactly like before: crash after several minutes (from 10 to 30) and then after 5 seconds again!
It seems like overheating, but nothing is hot!
I'm stuck now, I don't know what to do! If anyone has an idea, it would be welcome.
Thank you.

I had EXACTLY the same issue with my Toshiba =) it's hard to believe that Toshibas are no longer what they used to be ^^, anyway, just simply without disassembly, I reformatted it, I lost everything but it works :)
HELLO
for a month and a half, I've had the same problem with ASUS. My laptop, under warranty, has gone for repair three times. It came back after having the motherboard and CPU replaced, and nothing works, it still turns off by itself;
ASUS K 611 C
ARE THERE others who have the same problem? It's impossible to contact ASUS FRANCE to request an exchange, my laptop is still under warranty.
thank you for your comments and any help you can provide.

very useful it is recommended not only to change the fan after cleaning but also to remember to put "thermal grease" between the processor and its support (on top, not underneath!) otherwise the overheating problem persists as the heat is not dissipated

I had exactly the same problem as you on my Toshiba P100-473 which I bought for 2000 euros lol ^^ it turned off all of a sudden without me understanding why !! In the end, the computer was trojaned lol so I formatted the PC and now there are no more problems !! If this can help you, that's cool !!
Hello everyone, regarding the Toshiba laptops that shut down by themselves after 5 to xxxx minutes, my experience is as follows:
disconnect the modem cable from the motherboard for those who have experience in disassembly (it's the RJ11 port) and that's it.
P.S.: I applied this to two Toshiba Satellite A 200 xxxxxx and it works perfectly.
Here’s a link for those who don’t know how to disassemble it, it will help you

Hello
When you have nothing left to lose, you just jump in, so that's what I did. After disassembling my Toshiba Satellite, I had no trouble locating the RJ11 port, so I disconnected it, but unfortunately, it didn't solve my problem...
Do you have any other solutions to suggest?
Thank you all for your attention.

I managed to fix this PC, it might be a bit late. I replaced the thermal paste and changed the screws properly.

Hello,
Similar issue on a Toshiba A300 and the problem was resolved.
Start in safe mode (F8). Go to Device Manager/Intel Processors/Disable one of the two.
Then go to Control Panel "Power Options" and select the "High Performance" mode. Restart your computer and it should work.
It's due to a faulty component on the motherboard called "nec lokin."
Good luck!

Hello,
I'm having the same problem with my Toshiba Satellite L505-13J, which shuts down on its own for no reason. (The computer is not hot, so it's not overheating...)
I installed the software "SpeedFan" to check the temperatures from the sensors, and here are the results:
- At startup "cold":
Core 0: 50 °C
Core 1: 52 °C
Core 2: 55 °C
Core 3: 56 °C
- And if I start a 3D game:
Core 0: 77 °C
Core 1: 80 °C
Core 2: 86 °C
Core 3: 90 °C
And as soon as a temperature reaches 105 °C, the PC shuts down abruptly on its own.
My computer has already been to the Darty service center, they changed the fan but the problem is still there...
I conclude that there is a problem with the sensor or a defective motherboard...
That's my case, I don't know if it's the same for you.
Best regards,
Mickaël

Well, I think it's the security system. You have too much dust in your computer, especially around the fan, which prevents it from cooling down. If it gets too hot, your computer shuts down for security reasons. So take apart your laptop and clean it.
P.S.: Never use a vacuum cleaner on your computer.

I have the exact same problem for over a year. It stops randomly (sometimes it lasts 30 seconds, sometimes a whole day...). I took it to a technician who completely cleaned it, and I bought a cooling pad. Just a few hours after picking it up, it started again... Moreover, I recorded the temperatures at the time of the shutdowns and they are fine. The problem is therefore certainly not overheating...
However, I don't know if it's related but:
- with each update, there is one Windows update that won't install
- it seems to last longer when I disable one of the two "cores"
I'm struggling too, so if you have any ideas.... (the warranty is out)

I have exactly the same problem with my Toshiba laptop and I think Fukushima didn't happen for nothing!
Hello,
I have the same problem with a Toshiba Satellite L550D-11F.
I disassembled it (using this site: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/). It seems completely clean (it's barely over a year old!!). Once disassembled, I reconnected the components (keyboard, DVD drive, ...) while keeping the casing disassembled and restarted it. It worked for several tens of minutes without crashing. I restarted several times in this "configuration" and had no problems.
Then, I put everything back together normally: it crashed directly after a few seconds or a few minutes systematically. The fan seems to be working normally.
Could it be a defect in the temperature sensor? Premature aging?
Best regards,
David

Hi,
well, I took it apart completely, cleaned what little there was, and frankly I found it very clean, so one thing is for sure, it's not that at all... I did the same manipulations as yesterday, and I removed the memory sticks... it still shuts down after about a minute... Honestly, I'm really lost here, I hope for a response because it would hurt me to have spent 1300 € and that it be dead a year later...
I checked and felt the motherboard everywhere to see if anything had burned, and there is no particular smell, nor any signs of burning anywhere... Anyway, I like to understand and right now I don’t... Is there a glimmer of hope on this forum? I'm all ears...

ha m.... it's not possible, well I have my little suggestions already
1) is it still under warranty???
2) I think the cooling of your computer is absent
when my computer was too hot it would shut down, and when I turned it back on it would also shut down, I had to wait for everything to cool down, you must have a problem with the cooling

very simple
Toshiba problem solved
My Toshiba laptop shuts down on its own due to overheating during games or whenever I watch a movie in full screen
I simply bought a can of compressed air and blew it into the laptop on the right side
Since then, no more problems
I really struggled a lot
It's the only solution
Even putting my laptop on two coffee cups to avoid contact with the table didn't work
ONLY SOLUTION: BUY A CAN OF COMPRESSED AIR AND BLOW IT INTO THE LAPTOP ON THE RIGHT SIDE

Hello,
I also have this problem with my Toshiba, it turns off by itself as well,
at first it was due to overheating which I managed to avoid for now... but the issue remains!
I checked several times, at the moment it turns off the base isn't hot (at least not as hot as it could be for it to shut down).
So I wonder if the previous overheating could have damaged some components or made them more sensitive to heat?
What do you think?

Hello.
I also have a problem with my laptop (Toshiba Satellite L505-13X). When I start The Sims 3, it loads a bit and then suddenly the laptop shuts down, and it happens sometimes when I'm watching movies. I've had the laptop since August 2010, and it's only been doing this for 2 months.
If you have a solution, it would help me and save me from having to send it for repair.
Thank you.

But it doesn't seem to apply to all devices, yet there is an identical problem on the L505-10P which doesn't have a fingerprint reader.

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem as you.
Have you found a solution in the meantime?
Thank you for your response.

Hello
I know that my computer overheats, which is why I bought a tablet with external fans... it cools down quite well
Now, however, when I'm in my games, it still turns off by itself (no matter when) without any error message or incident recorded in the system, which is quite annoying because it always shuts down when I've forgotten to save for a while... but I also don't want to save every 10 minutes
From what I see, no one has found a real solution, so I'm going to clean the fan a bit and see if that changes anything.

xD .. sorry for the delay. My problem has been resolved .. and guess what? (especially De-passage) .. a reformat and voilà! nothing left =)

Thank you for your response Mikdu70, unfortunately I haven't had the time to install this software; it crashes beforehand!! But I was leaning towards this type of failure. The BIOS not indicating the CPU temperature, nor any settings for overheating, I will try to install this software. I will provide the results as soon as I have succeeded.
Hello everyone,
Same for me - Toshiba Satellite L550D-11F (1 year and 1 month :-|).
I've tried everything and the problem persists: Disassembly - complete cleaning - formatting
Details of the problem (the procedure pretty much identical each time):
- PC left untouched for several days
- PC startup = OK
- Runs for 2 days without shutting down while watching HD videos on YouTube (with nothing plugged into USB)
- On the 3rd day of startup (with 3 USB devices connected), it lasts 5-10 minutes (without doing anything) then shows me a nice black screen but doesn’t restart.
- Impossible to turn it back on afterwards, it stays on the black screen and neither the hard drive light nor the wifi light turns on (waiting about 15 min)
- Removing the battery and then the power, completely draining by holding down the power button for 30 seconds = the PC restarts then shuts down after 10 minutes (just with the USB mouse, I tried without and it does the same)
I tried to run a Windows 7 memory test at startup and the PC shuts down before the end of the test (when I say shuts down, the power light stays on but the fan doesn’t spin!?!). But I doubt it’s the memory, although I will try testing the sticks on another PC with memtest and let you know)
PS: The fan works, tested under Windows, but the problem doesn’t come from overheating but rather from a sensor or internal power issue, or simply a dead motherboard (questionable transistors?!?)
Thank you for your attention everyone.
Best regards.

Hello, I also carried out roughly the same tests to return to square one!
I managed to get it to work more consistently for several hours by removing the battery!!
I tested all the other components (heating, etc..) everything was fine.
All that's left is to change the motherboard... anyway, it will stay like that!
Thank you.

In the Windows 7 memory diagnostics, some tests are done with the cache memory disabled to force the processor to access the memory module for each address.
Toshiba Satellite A660-1F6 PSAW3E => Disabling the processor cache is causing my PC to overheat and shut down for safety; my BIOS version 2.0 is updated to a week ago and the translation into French is frightening.
Don't your games disable the cache or produce the same effect without the cache being disabled? Personally, for the summer, I reduce the processor to 50 percent; otherwise, it's too hot, and I set the cooling method fan to "Power Saver" mode. I also reduce the power for the graphics card, all within the power options of Windows 7 Home Premium x64 on my Toshiba Satellite A660-1F6 PSAW3E. Hi, thanks.
Uh, I have lots of BSOD series 0x000000F* (memory ...) too (Toshiba BSOD club): hxxp://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-22511981-bsod-0x000000f7-win7-m-security-essential

My last resort is to hold a small fan that runs on 2 batteries (the ones for the face), I position it right at the air vents, everywhere actually, and it works... while waiting to have it repaired!
The solution I used is very simple: remove the battery and my problem went away.
