Excel - Auto-fit cell size with double click

Hello,

I have a little problem or rather a misunderstanding with Excel.

I have a table with the field names in row 1, and when I fill it in, not all the words appear in my cells. Let me explain.

From A2 to A6, the cells are merged (and I think that's where the problem lies) with a single word, so there's no issue there.

In B2 I have a long sentence, the same in B3, B4, B5, and B6.

To be able to print my document and have a complete visual; all my cells have been set to "Wrap text". Despite this, when I double click on the left (where the line numbers are) between lines 3 and 4, only the first line of what I've written appears in my cell 3; the rest is hidden. Normally, when no cell is merged and I perform the same operation, the cell size adjusts to the number of lines I have inside.

If anyone has an explanation and especially a solution, I would be grateful!!!

Thank you very much
Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 3.5.8

    Good evening,

Merged cells cause problems not only here. It is essential to try to avoid them...
For example, to center across multiple columns, you select your cells and in the cell format under the 'Alignment' tab at the bottom of the dropdown list 'Horizontal:', you have 'Center Across Selection'

    Hi,

have you tried checking the "resize" box underneath "wrap text automatically"?

    Hello,

Right-click on the cell that is causing you trouble, you will find all the adjustment options, whatever they may be.

    Best regards,

Hello and thank you for trying to help me,

When I adjust, it reduces the font so that everything fits on one line, making the cell unreadable...

I think it's my cell in A that is causing the problem.

    Best regards

    Hello Tibouuh,

No, it's not working... When I do it, only the first line appears...

I still believe that the fact that my A cells are merged is causing the problem.

Thank you again for trying to help me.

If it comes from merging the cells, have you tried to "unmerge" the cells, double-clicking as I told you before to make everything fit the right size, then merging again?

it's bullshit what I told you last time, it can't work! -_-

I've searched but I can't find anything! I've tried different things but it never works.
Maybe it's just not possible...!? Or maybe I'm just not good enough to do it! sorry ^^

If you find something let me know.
        ciao

    Hello,

No, I haven't found a solution... so I'm adjusting each cell manually!!!

Thanks again for your help and maybe see you soon for more questions.

I had the same problem but EUREKA I solved it thanks to you. From what I understood, a merged cell cannot automatically adjust only in height. So I unmerged my 3 cells and wrote in the center of the 3 without borders, so in the printout, it looks seamless!

    Thank you so much

to adjust the height of a row, and the same goes for the width of a column, double-click on the bottom of the row or the right side of the column that is causing the issue.
normally, this will resize the height or width to the correct dimension.

let me know if it worked.
