Hello,
I have a Yamaha YSP 1000 soundbar.
In my opinion, this soundbar has several operational issues that I can't seem to resolve, so I'm asking for help here.
First of all, this device is supposed to be DTS 5.1 compatible; however, when I select this mode in a DVD menu, the film automatically switches to English.
Moreover, the volume of the device seems quite low, requiring me to set the sound to 70% just to hear something.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 7.0

the bar that you have is not powerful at all

    there are 2*20w (not rms)
plus 40*2w (no, this is not a joke)

so for the power you have your answer

Then for the decoding if it switches to English, it's because you chose the sound DTS HD (original)
to have the sound in French, simply select DTS, otherwise while playing the movie on the remote control you should have the SUBTITLE button, press it and you can choose the language you want

First of all, thank you for your response.
As for the change with the DVD order, it doesn't work, I tried. Furthermore, I don't have the option to choose DTS HD according to what I see in the product manual.

    ok yes it’s a DVD not a Blu-ray

well listen, since I’m not in front of the screen I can’t help you more, but it should be a simple setup with the DVD

and when you launch the DVD without touching anything, what happens

If I remember correctly, if I start the DVD without going into the initial settings, it selects the first language in the menu, which is usually English. If I choose DTS French, I get English, and I don't even know if it's Dolby instead of DTS.
Could it be a connection issue?

    no connection

your soundbar does not decode Dolby but only DTS

If she does both, it's written on the front: DTS 5.1, Neo 6, and Dolby Digital Pro Logic 2.

Well, I just watched some topics about this player and some people say it's a hassle factory for the settings lol

How are you connected from the soundbar to the player?

Well, frankly I don't see at all why it won't work

Have you tried with several movies??

I have over 500 DVDs so I’ll answer yes, lol.
I will reread the manual. Is it not a problem to connect multiple devices to the soundbar?

I don't think so, and perhaps not in the choice of the film's language
