Hello,
Here is my problem, I restarted my PC this morning, since then, Avast has a red cross, and it tells me that my system is not protected, but I can't activate the system! If someone can help me because on top of that, the computer is very, very slow, it freezes when opening a web page or anything else..
I have Windows Vista, and the latest Avast.
Thanks everyone.

Indeed, that's exactly what I've already done, but nothing changes.

Good evening,
In theory, no issues with the Vista firewall and Avast 5.0, a virus??? It could even prevent any installation.
Let's check that, I'm not a virus specialist, but we can uninstall Avast and install Avira Antivir to see if the problem is the same.
You could also run Malwarebytes; you'll find all this nice software here:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/19599-une-securite-gratuite-efficace-ca-existe
Run Malwarebytes first before uninstalling Avast and changing antivirus.
Otherwise, try this anyway before anything else, the access path is for XP, but the procedures are the same.
1. Right-click on the "MY COMPUTER" icon, then select "MANAGE" from the menu that appears.
2. In the left column of the next window that appears, select "SERVICES AND APPLICATIONS".
3. Double-click on SERVICES.
4. In the right column, check the status of the avast! Antivirus services.
5. If any of these services are not set to 'automatic startup', do it this way (right-click on the service and select PROPERTIES. Choose AUTOMATIC for the STARTUP TYPE). Restart the computer after making the change.
6. If they are already set to 'automatic startup', then check the status of the services. If it is not 'started', try to start it (right-click and select START).
7. If the service cannot be started, your installation might be corrupted. Try to repair the installation of avast! by doing this: Click on START -> CONTROL PANEL -> ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS -> avast! Antivirus -> MODIFY/REMOVE and select REPAIR.
