Disk space issue with Avast?

Hello,

My question may seem bizarre but I’m allowed to ask as I don’t really understand what’s happening. I just updated my antivirus software Avast (thus moving to the latest version). But since then, and I absolutely don’t understand why, my free space on my hard drive has significantly decreased (2 GB!). I don’t understand because I didn’t do anything else, I didn’t install anything nor perform any other manipulation besides that.

If someone is able to explain, I would be grateful.

    Is it true that it's not normal, in principle, and for me, its total size is 144.00 MB, which is not a lot.

    It's the size of the free version, just so we're clear; if you have the paid version, I wouldn't be able to tell you.

    Is it normal to have so many Avast folders in duplicate?
    (I have Avast directories in Program Files, ProgramData, All Users)

    I reinstalled Avast.
    It takes much less space than before but even with the latest version, it still creates duplicates in my directories.

    My hard drive keeps filling up by itself...
    I don’t understand, I really feel like it comes from Avast because when I uninstall it, my hard drive goes back to its original size.
    Does anyone know what this could be?
