Hello,
I have an issue with my laptop screen (SONY VAIO VGN-CS21S). For the past few days, there has been a kind of white bar appearing at the bottom of the screen. Initially, it was just a small white line, but now the bar has thickened (it’s about 0.5 cm high now). It's not constant; it blinks and appears approximately every 5 seconds.
I’m not sure if this is due to a virus or spyware?
I have VIPRE (antivirus + antispyware) and it doesn't detect anything when I run scans, and the same goes for AD-AWARE that I just downloaded.
Could you please help me??
Thank you
Eva

hello
1. try to download Avast and run a scan (it's free)
2. it's the Trojan that does this or a program that's on your computer -
Thank you
I installed Avast which ran a scan at startup of the PC, it detected a file infected with Win32 Reatkit Gen, then it asked me to choose between several options and I chose to delete.
Once the computer was restarted, unfortunately, I still have the bar that appears.....-
Hello, so it's not a virus, go to the above link https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download
and download CCleaner and try to fix the issues in the registry with this program (it's free)
if the problem persists, write to me.

• Download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) from Random/Random.
http://images.malwareremoval.com/random/RSIT.exe
• Save it to your Desktop.
• Double-click on RSIT.exe to launch the tool.
• Click on "Continue" on the Disclaimer screen.
• If the HijackThis tool is not present or not detected on the computer, RSIT will download it (allow access in your firewall if it asks)
and you will need to accept the license.
• Once the scan is complete, two reports will appear: please post them in two separate messages
The reports are located at:
C:\rsit\info.txt
C:\rsit\log.txt

I search a lot... and sometimes I find!

Thank you for the moment of grace for the support, that’s really nice ;))

ok
in this order (you can post the reports accordingly)
1)
Important note:
For computers equipped with Windows Vista and Windows 7, disabling User Account Control is mandatory
otherwise the tool may not function correctly.
Tutorial: https://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/8343-vista-desactiver-l-uac
Download and save the installation file to the desktop
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/NosTools/C_XX/AD-R.exe
Double click on the installation file of AD-Remover, the program will install automatically.
On Vista: right-click on AD-Remover and select "Run as administrator"
In the main menu, choose
Option L Launch cleaning
and press [enter].
Let the tool work and do not touch anything ...
Post the report that appears at the end.
(the report is also saved under C:\Ad-report.log)
(CTRL+A to select all, CTRL+C to copy, and CTRL+V to paste)
Note: Process.exe is detected by some antivirus (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky Anti-Virus) as a RiskTool.
It is not a virus, but a utility intended to terminate processes.
In the wrong hands, this utility could stop security software (Antivirus, Firewall...) hence the alert issued by these antivirus programs.

It could come from the graphics card that displays the information poorly on the screen! So it will always remain (if it's due to the graphics card).
-
Ouch! How can I know if this is coming from the graphics card or not??
And if so, what could have caused this??? -
I don't know if you know the name of your GPU, if so, tell me which one!
If you often play PC games, over time the GPU must have heated up, I've experienced that before!
Otherwise, you have to change the computer, you can't change the graphics card in a laptop. -
Wow, I hope that's not the case because my PC is less than a year old and I don't play any games on it..... :((
But you see this bar issue is not constant, it happens from time to time but not all the time, for example, it can go for several hours without doing it and then suddenly it starts.... with a graphics card issue, wouldn't this malfunction occur all the time???
Otherwise, I looked it up and found the following information in my PC regarding the graphics card (in the properties) I don't know if this is what you need ????
Graphics card: Standard VGA
Driver version: 6.0.6001.18000
Hardware ID:
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_06E9&SUBSYS_903F104D&REV_A1

Thank you -
If it doesn't do it all the time, it likely comes from the screen. Has it been hit or bumped recently?
-
No no, otherwise I would have attributed it to the shock.
And don't you think it could come from spyware or a trojan or some other *¤!##*% of that kind?? -
No, if it were a virus it wouldn't mess with the graphics card, you would have more things like: error messages on startup, missing or deleted files! You see?
Otherwise, it probably comes from the graphics card or the screen, so to remedy that, change your PC, sorry. -
ok well, I thank you anyway for taking a look at my issue,
I will still continue my research on my side while praying that it ultimately isn't that....
thanks -
I indeed doubt that a virus is responsible for this
even if there is still one in that location that needs to be removed manually

Hello,
just wanted to let you know that I let some time pass to see how my PC reacted, but since the last cleanup, there's no more taskbar at the bottom of my screen!!! So there you go, I hope the problem doesn't come back, but anyway, thank you for taking the time to help me... that's really nice of you.
Thanks again and take care ;) -
well
has this been deleted
