Hello everyone,
I am looking for two things:
- replacement batteries for my "révo plus"
- and also a technical document or a personal experience to know how to open this device without breaking everything. (Where are the screws or clips hidden, what needs to be detached?).
So far, I haven't found anything online, not even on the manufacturer's website (in English...).
Thanks to all the good souls who have experienced this same moment of solitude. I've been searching for a long time, but now the device won't even turn on, and it's a work tool that I have a hard time being without.

Hello.
More than two years later, I don't even know if you still have the same email address... but here I am, trying.
I'm facing the same issue: I haven't used my Revo in several months and it won't turn back on. However, when I place it on its docking station, both LEDs light up normally. A mystery!!!
Did you find a solution?
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I’m also from Rennes and I’ve experienced the same issues as you.
But this time it’s more serious, the casing of my Revo is broken, so it’s really loose on the hinge side and I’m having a lot of trouble closing my Psion properly.
So, by any chance, do you have a second-hand Revo (broken, electronics-wise)?
Thanks for your reply ;-)

Hello Psion users
I've noticed that for a long time all users of Psions have been looking for viable solutions to continue using their devices.
I've been offering a repair and maintenance service for Psions in France for the past 3 years.
For REVOs, I've restarted the manufacturing of "next generation" batteries with performance well above the originals.
If you want more information, feel free to visit my website:
www.akxis.fr
I'm trying to give a second life to these devices that have not yet been replaced to this day.
So for all Psion users, contact me if needed.
See you soon

Hello,
1. Series 5/5mx: spring that releases = plastic pegs of the chassis broken. Remedy: have the chassis replaced.
2. Series 3: the springs generally hold well on this machine. Here too, maybe the plastic peg of the icon bar. Remedy: replace the broken peg with a screw (everything needs to be disassembled for that, or have it done).
Best regards,
PsionForever, collector (repairs possible) of all Psion devices since 1984!

Hello,
I am pleasantly surprised to see that there are still fans of the Psion.
As for me, I had several Series 3 versions and the Series 5mx.
The screen or the cable of the latter gave out on me a few years ago, but I haven't had the courage to part with it.
If I understand correctly, it would be possible for you to repair this marvel?
Could you tell me a bit more?
Price of the repair?
Procedure to follow?
Best regards
Daniel

Yes, that's correct.
I am replacing the faulty ribbon cable of a 5mx with a new one.
Payment by check with the shipment of the machine (please ask for complete details at psionforever@gmail.com)
The turnaround time is 5-7 days.
The work on the ribbon cable is guaranteed for six months and the ribbon cable gives 3 to 4 more years of life to your 5mx (intensive use: 20 openings-closings per day)
Best regards,
PsionForever

Hello,
I have a series 5 that has the following issues:
1-the screen is no longer touch-sensitive
2-the stylus no longer "clicks" into its slot (it is therefore free all the time)
Do you think these two issues are repairable (how, at what cost)
Otherwise, can I easily consider moving to the 5mx (availability on the market and what price range?)
P.S.: I remain a die-hard fan of Psion.

for question 1, you need to replace the ribbon
for question 2, simply insert a thin blade into the slot above the serial connector towards the PC, push it in by sliding from right to left slightly until you hear the click indicating that the stylus can snap back in.
You will find several Psion Series 5mx on www.PsionForever.eu, with warranty, with a new ribbon if necessary. Watch for frequent promotions.
Long live the Psion, unmatched machines, even 10 years later!

Urgency requires:
I have now carefully opened the beast and found the batteries
They come as a sealed pack, but they are actually 2 rechargeable AAA batteries.
The whole should output 6 V at 650 mA with a small 4-pin connector.
And I still haven't found a supplier online!
Am I the only one still using this excellent device (which never crashes, unlike others!)?

Hello,
The Psion Revo is still a widely used device because of its slimness, keyboard, and power.
It has only qualities; the only defect found, the batteries that wear out and die over time, isn't really one.
In fact, there are high-performance rechargeable batteries on the market, such as 1100 mAh, that provide about 15 hours of autonomy. Their replacement is a bit technical, especially since there's a risk of breaking small, fragile plastic parts. Moreover, the space to position the batteries for the Revo is extremely tight, and it's essential not to add any unnecessary thickness.
In stressful situations, I replace dead batteries with quality 1100 mAh ones. The work and the batteries are guaranteed for one year, and your Revo will last for another 3-4 years.
Otherwise, for any other repairs on Psion Organizer, Series 3a, 3c, 3mx, Series 5, 5mx, I can repair any type of malfunction, particularly the replacement of the famous screen flex cables (which are replaced with new reinforced ones).
As a collector of Psion devices since the first Organizer One in 1984 (just a single line display but a superb design already) to the netBook Pro (which I reiterate, is not worth as much as the netBook Classic), passing through the Organizer CM, XP, LZ, LZ64, the MC400, the Series 3, 3a 512k, 1Mo, 2Mo, the Siena, the non-backlit 3c, backlit, the Series 5, Series 5mx, Series 3mx, Revo, Revo+, the Series 7, the netBook and the netBook Pro. Only the WorkAbout, being too specific, hasn't attracted me. I could almost consider, click the link, opening a mini Psion museum! Here is the link: <http://picasaweb.google.fr/psionforever/MusEPsionForeverEnConstruction>
Since Psion has stopped its after-sales service, I've started repairing them myself. I have spare parts for the Series 3, 3a, 3c, 3mx, Series 5, 5mx, Revo, Revo+. Your repair has a good chance of being done (quick turnaround)!

Hello Sir,
I really appreciate your Psion philosophy and share its ideas.
I have acquired several models from the 3 to the 5 MX, which I have enjoyed a lot despite some setbacks when the screens break or the ribbon cable fails...
In this case, it’s a ribbon cable to change on a 5MX, and I was therefore reaching out to you to try and find a solution.
What is your repair price including return shipping costs to Lausanne (SWITZERLAND)? And what is your address for this repair?
Awaiting your response, please accept my cordial greetings.
Jean Marie ROY

I was able to contact you by phone after doing a search on Google (impressive, the power of Google). At the time of my call, you were leaving for the dentist! And then nothing, despite my email left. Are you really interested in the repair of your Psion Series 3 and Psion Series 5mx? Strange?

Two years later, I still can't part with my faithful assistant (which I've been using since 1999!)
A few times now, I've repaired it thanks to parts from a simple rev. (8 Mb) purchased online and... commercial batteries!
As for your problem, which I now know well:
It's simply your batteries that are at the end of their rope.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Either you've left them discharged for too long, or you put your device back on the station too often (batteries not fully discharged).
This decreases their charging capacity over time! And now you have none left!
So you need to replace the 2 batteries of 1.2V - 700mA, but be careful, it’s a very, very delicate operation because they are soldered together and trapped in a heat-shrink sheath with a thermal probe, and there really isn’t much space to incorporate this block.
Already, disassembly is a good part of the fun (I've now found the trick, and if you give it a go, I'll help you).
In short, if you dabble a bit in electronics and have the equipment, go for it, and let me know, I'll try to help you.
Otherwise, forget it, I doubt a professional would agree to do it, or they would take the opportunity to inflate the bill.
And if you decide to give up, I'm interested in it for parts, but I'm on welfare...
PS: By the way, before you take everything apart, don’t forget to backup on PC!
I'm in Aveyron, and you?
