Hello,
I just bought a 500GB Toshiba StorE TV external hard drive. It is not specified on the box whether it is (in)compatible with Mac OS X. I connected it to my Mac, which asked me if I wanted to make a straightforward copy of my computer. I answered "yes" and it started the transfer... Once finished, I noticed that the files from my computer were normally stored. I disconnected it and plugged it into my TV (it is designed to view multimedia content directly on the TV). I had already tried connecting it to the TV before plugging it into my computer, and it worked fine (there were buttons for "music", "videos", "photos", etc., which looks like Media Center, for example). Once plugged in for the second time, an image of the hard drive is displayed, and I can't access my content. I imagine that there were originally folders containing multimedia content previews and that by copying my disk, I deleted everything. I then tried plugging it into a Windows XP to format it, but it does not detect it, even though it is clearly stated that it is compatible.
Do you know how I can fix the problem?
Thank you in advance

Hello,
I bought a TOSHIBA STORE TV with 500 GB,
At first, it worked normally, but for the past week and for no apparent reason, it no longer responds,
When I plug it in, I can hear it starting up and the menu appears on the screen, after a little while the screensaver appears and the word TOSHIBA scrolls across the screen, but the blue power indicator does not light up and the remote control does not respond, so the only way to turn it off is to unplug it, because even the power button located on the back of the device does not respond,
I would also like to point out that it works normally on the microcomputer.
For this, I am seeking your help and assistance to help me resolve this issue.
Thank you in advance. -
I'm in the same situation as Nicky with the TV...
I'm also looking for the manual since I formatted it at the beginning and like a ... I didn't back up all the files that were provided on it :s so if someone could send me the files, that would be nice
thanks -

I have exactly the same problem. I made my hard drive compatible with Mac and PC, but now I can't read it on my TV!!! There are no subfolders displaying... Does anyone have the software to reset it??

Hello,
same problem
like an idiot I formatted it,
now no matter the formatting (PC or Mac) it doesn't display any content when I plug it into the TV
does anyone have a solution?
Toshiba offered to have me send it back, I find it unnecessary because it must be a fixable error but I haven't found how
BB660: how did you recover the original files??
I’m interested.....-
It's a shame to see that everyone has the same problem! In fact, this device is a scam! I stressed out thinking that my remote control was dead. But in fact, once connected to the TV, nothing appears EVEN THOUGH my television is new and high-end. It's irreparable. I'm looking for an explanation in French somewhere without succeeding.

Hello,
the Mac has automatically reinitialized the disk with its own file storage system, which PCs cannot read.
If you want to use the disk on both Mac AND PC, you need to launch Disk Utility on the Mac (in Applications: Utilities), connect the disk, and partition it with a FAT partition (not Mac HFS+).
After that, you can copy and read all the files you want, on both Mac and PC, including on TV. -
Gentlemen, hello,
I own a Toshiba Store TV multimedia reader with a capacity of 1500 GB, and for a week now, it has been shutting down after a few seconds when connected to my PC, yet it works very well when connected to the television.
What should I do? I can't add any files anymore, knowing that the free space is 650 GB.
If I could get the download link for the firmware, that would be helpful.
I really need help.
Sincerely, and waiting for a reply.-

The best solution would be to remove the disk from the enclosure and back up the data using an external enclosure. I confirm that this enclosure does not have a fuse, but rather that these disks are really sensitive. To open the enclosure, please remove the black panel that serves as a cover for the disk's connectors, and you will have access to the screws that allow you to dismantle it.

Hello, my brother has this disk and at a friend's house he connected it to a console to recover some files I think and it formatted the disk
and since then... on PC it works, but on TV nothing just the background, no menu
so I suppose a file or maybe a partition is missing for the TV part
where can I find all that to repair it
thank you in advance! -

Hello, can you explain how to "partition" with a FAT partition? Nothing shows up when I connect my Toshiba external hard drive, not even a manual... and yet I'm told it is compatible with my Mac...
I already have another external hard drive from a different brand, can't we have two different ones?
Thank you very much!!
