Hello everyone,
I’ll explain, I reset my computer due to a lot of issues, so right now I’m reinstalling everything I had, including antivirus, printer...
The problem is that when I insert the installation CD for my HP PSC 1213 printer, I get a message saying THE RPC SERVER IS UNAVAILABLE.
Could you please explain to me what this means and how I can resolve this issue?
Thank you very much to all of you.

Hi
Well, I had the same problem as you with the RPC server.
Actually, I have a laptop and I couldn't install my games or access resources like disk management.
I had to reinstall my system and it started working again, but I had to do a few things to make it work because it still wasn’t functioning well.
I noticed that I was in selective startup, and since I had removed quite a few things in the startup/services of XP, I switched back to normal startup mode.
It started working again after that.
Try to see if you have your startup set to NORMAL and not SELECTIVE.
The command for that is in start/run/msconfig.
Give it a try.
For me, it worked. I tried again this morning and the RPC server was functioning with this method.
Maybe it's just luck.....
There you go.

Hello everyone, I have a little issue with my printer (HP) that is no longer recognized by my computer: I don’t have anything in the configuration table while it was still in the list of programs. I uninstalled the program and tried to reinstall it, but it says the RPC server is unavailable. I tried the solution by going to tools, services, and restarting the spooler service (which was set to automatic), but I couldn’t restart the spooler service: it says error 1068, the dependency group failed to start. Since I'm a beginner in computers, I hope you can help me out. Thank you. KIKI
Hi Virginie!
I hope you are doing well today. For your RPC server problem, first, if you have Windows XP Service Pack 2, check it by right-clicking on "My Computer," then click on "Properties," and under the "System" section, see what service pack you have. You must have Service Pack 2; otherwise, go to Windows Update and install it. If you already have Service Pack 2, please give me your email address so I can send you a file that you need to execute on your workstation to fix your problem.
Bye, A+
Frank

Hi Frank,
Would it be possible to have the file to fix the RPC server issue? I'm on Windows XP.

Hello,
same problem. After reinstalling Windows XP (coccinelle version), I can't install the Alice box: RPC server unavailable. Without the Alice box = no internet = no way to retrieve programs (Avast and others).
Thank you for your help

I accidentally solved this problem; I wanted to delete the program and ABBYY, and when I went to Control Panel / Uninstall a program / when I opened it, I was offered to repair or uninstall. By clicking on repair, everything returned to normal; I am on <Windows 7.
