[Server] Scheduling of server restarts

Hello everyone,

I am a Windows admin and as everyone knows, a Windows server needs to be rebooted from time to time so there aren’t too many issues.

I’m looking for a tool that works under Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003 that would allow me to schedule these automatic reboots, noting that some I would like to reboot once a week and others every 15 days.

I’ve tried some that only allow weekly reboots (Shutdown-IT, PowerOff).

I’ve also tried Windows “Scheduled Tasks” but I’m not very satisfied with it.

Do you have a soft or a way to schedule these reboots? Thanks for your responses and good luck!

    I have the same problem I am in BTS IG training and I was asked to perform a punctual restart of the Windows 2003 server but I can't find how to do it I tried with the task scheduler but it is not conclusive I would need the procedure if possible thank you in advance.

      You make a batch with the command shutdown -r -f inside it and you schedule it in the task scheduler.

      Exactly, shutdown -r -f works perfectly in Windows scheduled tasks, I use it daily in a business environment.

    look for a startup scheduling software there are several on the net and they are even free

    Why not simply use "shutdown"

    And schedule it???

    I found a few of them, but you can only schedule once a week. You can't schedule, for example, once a month or once every 15 days. Do you have names of software? Thanks.

    At the start, I passed by there but unfortunately it didn't work. I found the command on Windows Server 2003 but not on other servers.

    And shutdown allows stopping the machine; what would be needed is a shutdown -r for reboot, but I haven't found the right procedure.

    Has anyone implemented these types of reboots?

    Pierre, would you have the way to proceed?

    I’ve tried several software, but none go beyond 1 week.

    Does anyone know a software that would go beyond that? for example a restart once a month? thanks.

    tsshutdn 1 /reboot --> restart your server after 1 second.
