I CAN'T SEND SOME MESSAGES ON OUTLOOK EXPRESS.
I GET THIS MESSAGE THAT SAYS

If your ISP blocks port 25 or if you're unable to send email, then you will need to use port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this change, please follow the directions below:

1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts"
2. Select your Yahoo! POP account and click on the "Properties" button
3. Click on the "Advanced" tab
4. Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP), change port 25 to 587
5. Click "Apply", then click "OK" and "Close"

Hello everyone,

I had the same problem as you, it lasted for several months.
I called Orange who told me that the troubleshooting would be a paid service because the problem was not theirs but related to the messaging service.
I eventually found the solution, here it is:

First, go to your messaging website (Orange, Neuf, etc.) to check if sending and receiving from the portal works correctly. If it does, make sure to check your credentials and password.

If everything is fine and you get the following error message:
Test message sending from the messaging service: An unknown error 0x80040607 has occurred
then it's very simple, go to TOOLS -> ACCOUNT SETTINGS, double click on your account then ADVANCED SETTINGS -> OUTGOING SERVER -> check USE SAME SETTINGS AS MY INCOMING SERVER

Run the test again and it should work!!!!

The same thing happened to me.

After searching for several hours for the cause and the remedy to apply, I tried something simple:
Going to the management section of my account on my ISP's page and changing the password for my email.

Miracle, it worked on the first try afterwards.

I received the same kind of error message:

The server returned an error. Account: xxx@xxx.com, Server: "mail.xxx.com", Protocol: POP3, Server response: ".", Port: 110, Secure (SSL): No, Server error: 0X800CCC90, Error number: 0x800CCC90

I resolved the issue by going to delete all emails via webmail. It cleared the situation!

There weren't many emails, but perhaps one of them was causing the blockage.

Greetings  I had the same problem after changing my password on one of my Hotmail accounts.  The password changed on hotmail.com was 17 characters long, while live mail only manages 16 characters in length.  So I changed my password to 16 characters on hotmail.com and subsequently in my Hotmail email account to 16 characters and there you go...  Solution found at Microsoft  Bye

The solutions proposed above are not 100% valid since there is another one.  You just need to delete the Outlook profile and create another one.  1 - Backup the Outlook folder C:\Document and setting\localSettings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook  2 - Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles, select the profile and then delete. 3 - Restart Outlook then reconfigure the account and if necessary restore the PST files.  And there you go ;)

Hello  I had this problem for a month and a half and I just solved it (finally!) It should also work for most 0x800ccc errors.. 1) go to TOOLS 2) INTERNET OPTIONS 3) ADVANCED tab 4) at the bottom of the window click on RESET. 5) Close all windows and restart Internet and then your mailbox  (I have Windows Live on VISTA) ... and after struggling for weeks, it WORKS!! Here it is very simple, there is a bug in Windows Live Mail and possibly Outlook Express, you need to go into the settings and uncheck "remember my password." And that's it!!!! (pass the message)

Good evening everyone, for those who have a connection problem with the pop server and so when you open Windows Mail, a window pops up asking you to enter: Username: and Password:  just go to your ISP's website (for me, neuf box, so SFR), log in, and check your settings to see what you have entered.  I just did it: my username was my email address and my password was the same as the one I use to log into my customer area.  It worked: PHEW!!! Hoping to have helped, good luck to others.
