Hello,
I have tried the different previous solutions without success. It's a radio show downloaded by RealPlayer in .ivr format. When I try to burn it in Video Disc (DVD/VCD) mode, it refuses because there is no video content (since it's a radio show). When I go back to Audio Disc mode, it tells me the file is too large... As for the USB hub thing, I don't have all that equipment...
So, how can I read my .ivr file with VLC for free?
Thank you for your patience and responses!

Hello cobrate,
To read your IVR files (Internet Video Recording I believe), you use Real Player since you have it.
Converting these files for free is very difficult, if not impossible. Give MediaCoder or SUPER a try, but there's no guarantee of success. Personally, out of two IVR files I had, I was only able to convert one; the other one from the Cité de la Musique can only be played through Real.
You can also take a look at this discussion: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-4026220-convertir-un-fichicher-ivr-en-avi
Or this one: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-3600448-format-ivr
And there’s another thing here, specifically regarding audio files: http://www.presence-pc.com/forum/ppc/Logiciels/convertir-video-sujet-23631-1.htm
Do some research yourself too, if you want ;)
Best regards

Thank you for your quickness and advice!!! By the way, I sent a message to the radio station in question :)
I will check your links, and if I find a solution, I will get back...- I'm back... without solutions, after searching on my side. I worked around the problem by re-downloading my radio show on iTunes. This time, I was able to burn it. The computer reopened it with MediaPlayer... and in the end, it became an .mp3 played by VLC... Anyway, if someone has a better solution, please share it...

If you have .ivr files, here is a solution provided by a colleague:
1) Open your Real Player audio file .ivr
2) Also open the free software Audacity (as reliable as VLC)
3) Set it to 'Stereo Mix' (or sound mixer or something like that) and roughly increase the input and output sounds
4) Start playback on Real Player
5) Start recording on Audacity simultaneously
6) When you are finished, save your new Audacity file as .mp3 or .wav
Note that you can directly record sound with Audacity without waiting for it to become a file (for example, you listen to sound live - music, radio show - while recording it simultaneously on your computer using Audacity).
