Hello,

I just acquired iWork '09 after using it in trial mode for a month. I installed it and now it's asking me for a serial number that doesn't exist!
What can I do?
Thank you
Configuration: Mac OS X Snow Leopard Safari 531.9

Here’s what I found that should be deleted to remove traces of a previous installation:

http://www.screencast.com/users/Francis_/folders/Jing/media/970997ac-0b66-4b1e-81b4-6646beda29df

Get rid of all that!

Also, think about cleaning up (removing log caches and other similar stuff) with Onyx + repairing permissions afterwards.

Follow this method:

-Download the right version of Onyx - the one that corresponds to your version of Mac OS here:

http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs/french/apps.html ?-Install Onyx ?
-Launch Onyx
-Let it check the SMART status of the hard drive and the volume structure
-then give it the password when it asks
-then click on the "Automation" button ?
-check all the boxes except "Show folder contents"
-click on "Execute"
-Restart the Mac

Let’s hope this time..

Thank you sanspseudo, I will try without delay. However, I have two documents on pages in my Mac, will this cleanup delete them?

No, the documents are not concerned at all. Neither Pages documents nor others, Numbers or Keynote. Simply, they will not open with Pages or the iWork suite as long as the installation, or rather re-installation, is not done.

I work09 unlocked thanks to sanspseudo.

Hello to you without a nickname, but I would like you to explain to me the site where everything needs to be thrown away...

I'm sorry, but I don't understand...

Hello

Thank you for keeping this article on the forum.

Indeed, I just installed iWork 09 on my Macbook Pro - Yosemite by following the method of Sanspseudo, explained below.

This allows for the removal of old iWork installations (demo version and old version).

Thanks to Sanspseudo.

Wishing the whole team all the best.

Hello,

macmuffin:

I am in the same situation as Macbête, namely that I bought iWork '09 in CD version after using the trial version... They are asking me for a serial number that is NO LONGER present in the CD version... I have deleted all the files that remained from the trial version, but without success... Help !! Thank you in advance

Try the following steps:
-From the Finder menu bar, go to Go / Go to Folder...
-In the window that opens, type:
/Private
-Then go to var / db / receipts
-There you delete all files including the term " iWork "

You should have several files with names resembling the following:

com.apple.pkg.iWork_904_Update.bom
com.apple.pkg.iWork_904_Update.plist
com.apple.pkg.iWork09_Update3.bom
com.apple.pkg.iWork09_Update3.plist
com.apple.pkg.iWork09.bom
com.apple.pkg.iWork09.plist

Throw them all away, and the others as well if you have any.

Also throw away the iWork '09 folder located in:
Hard_drive / Library / Application Support

Also throw away the iWork folder found in Application Support of YOUR Library,
and also the preference files related to the iWork suite that may still be in your Preferences folder. For example:
com.apple.iWork.Keynote.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist
com.apple.iWork.Numbers.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist
com.apple.iWork.Pages.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist

The blockage is probably mainly due to the files located in
/Private / var / db / receipts, mentioned above,
But it's better to do a complete cleanup.

Good luck

PS: It is perfectly true that the CD version does not require any license number.

Good evening,

Strangely, the purchased and downloaded versions require a serial number, but the versions delivered on CD do not. It is probably necessary to delete the downloaded versions and reinstall from the delivered CD.

Best regards

P.S.: Good evening Chris ;-)

Good evening, Francis,

I didn't know... The mysteries of commerce and protections! As you say; strangely, because if I steal your DVD, I'll be able to quietly install iLife... Remind me of your address, already ;-)))

Best regards.

Thank you all.

I indeed had to format, otherwise I couldn't install the software.

Good evening,

If you purchased an official version, you must have this number. It's on the box, on the DVD, or somewhere else, but you must have it.

See you soon!

Hello "chefs" ;-)

Don't forget to delete the iLife preferences file because it's the one that’s blocking!!
I don't know if there's an uninstaller included!!
You might use "Appdelete" or another app (Uapp...)

Hello,

I might not be of much help, but I solved the problem by going to the Apple Store near my home. If you don't have one, you can visit an Apple reseller who should fix the issue for you free of charge. And I can confirm to Chris 94 that there is NO longer a registration number for this product, even when purchasing it.

Thank you for your reply Macbête
The problem is that I live in Nantes, so it's 400km to the nearest Apple Store!! By the way, how did they resolve your issue?

400 km to Nantes???
If the solution I suggested earlier doesn't work, check this page for all the authorized Apple centers in Nantes and the surrounding area; there should be at least one that "will know how to do it" ;)

However, I found myself in the same situation and I succeeded ..
Anyway,
I will do a thorough search on my Mac with software like EasyFind or Cloak, if I find anything more I will get back to you.

THANK YOU SO MUCH SANSPSEUDO, IT WORKS !!!!! I think my problem came from the fact that, since there is only one user on my Mac, I mixed up the libraries...
Thanks again for all the very clear explanations!! :) :)
