Hello,

I have a problem with my audio headset (Razer Barracuda 5.1): there was an increasingly troublesome short circuit on the green (stereo) jack for listening to music. After consulting the manufacturer, who doesn't sell the adapter for my faulty jack, I researched various forums and acquired different models of jack connectors in advance.
I cut off the defective jack, expecting to find 3 or 4 different wires, but that wasn't the case:
the outer cable was black, and it only contained a single red wire. I stripped it back 1cm thinking it protected other wires, but that wasn’t the case. There was only a copper braid and a few blue/black wires, no thicker than the copper wires.

I'm completely lost and fear I may have to give up on my headset. Does anyone know what type of jack this is and if it can be repaired?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Debriefing of the operation:

I stripped further down and I was wrong: there were three "colors" of wires:

    - the "natural" copper
    - blue ones
    - red ones

All these beautiful people fully stripped and without plastic coating: a pain to sort them out. I would be curious to know how it was soldered on the original plug.
Another strange thing (I am a novice in this field, it might be normal you would say): the blue and red copper wires are "colored", not covered in a plastic sheath: even when I pass them over a lighter, they retain their color!!??

So I sorted the colors and soldered them onto my new plug: all good, it works even if my soldering is anything but professional.

Thanks to those who took the time to advise me.
