Hello,

In Illustrator CS3 (MAC OSX), I want to create a kind of stencil. Imagine I have a yellow rectangle in which I want to cut out text. In the end, my pattern is intended for screen printing to print textiles. The text will take the color of the textile, as a reserve. I can't find the steps to cut out this text which needs to be vectorized for the screen printer. Thank you in advance for your help!
Configuration: Mac OS X Safari 531.9

Thank you for your response, but I want to CUT out a yellow rectangle; the letters (vectorized) are like cut out from the rectangle. However, if I make the letters colorless, they end up on the yellow background... and thus are not visible...

if you vectorize your text,
you don't apply any color or outline,
you place it on the yellow square,
with the pathfinder tool, you select them and you "subtract" the shape.

there you go!
