black rectangle hiding the image on the TV

Hello, the TV is displaying a black square on the screen, blocking out two-thirds of the image. Do you have any idea what this could be?  Thank you.

Hi, I have the same problem, it's a 2009 Sony Bravia. The rectangle is small at the bottom right and inside the rectangle there is: --:--.    Thank you.

It seems to be the clock's location, press the "info" button to see.

For Samsung plasma, just disable the PIP in the settings and then no more play.
