Disassembly of Altec Lansing VS.2120 speakers

Hello,

I have a problem with my Altec Lansing VS.2120 speakers.
There are crackling noises and sound cutouts when I touch the ON/OFF button/potentiometer.
If I don't touch it, one speaker works while the other doesn't.
I would like to access the potentiometer, but I don't know how to open them.
Could someone please tell me how to do it?

    For those who have speakers similar to AVS300, there are no screws for disassembly; the plastics are welded by vibration, which means you have to separate the two pieces by forcing them with a screwdriver (yep, it looks less nice afterward...)

      These speakers are glued and not screwed, so to open these ALTEC LANSING speakers, you need to apply pressure on the back edge of the speakers with a drywall knife! I also used a rubber mallet! You need to insert the knife in the middle and tap lightly at the joint. When the knife goes inside, you should lift without too much force and pull on the bottom of the cabinet to extract it. Note that it may also help to insert the knife at the top to pry it open if the assembly resists too much...

    Hi,
    I just found a solution for my Altec Lansing!

    I pulled on the volume knob, it came off, then I just blew really hard inside, no more problem (or almost none)!
    The contact cleaner can also be really useful once the knob is removed
