Hello,
I have Altec Lansing VS 2121 speakers.
I had a problem with my potentiometer, and when I opened my right satellite (where the potentiometer is), I saw that it was broken.
I would like to know where I could buy another potentiometer?

Thank you

I have the same problem.
How is it disassembled?

Hello, maybe I'm a bit late. But I had the same potentiometer problem, and to answer your question about how to disassemble the satellite, it requires patience and meticulousness. You turn the satellite over and, using a cutter (18mm blade), after removing the two black plastic buttons, you slide the blade into the slot you see that goes around the satellite. You need to proceed very slowly and lower the blade about 5mm all around the satellite. There’s no need to do the three sides at the base as they are not glued. You will feel hard spots; those are the glue points. Then, using a hot air gun set to speed 1, power setting: 1, you will gently heat the three sides, then using the tip of the cutter, you will slowly lever until the cover of the satellite detaches because it is likely glued with cyanoacrylate adhesive, which breaks when heated. Then you will see your potentiometer. It is fixed to a printed circuit board, held by two black Phillips screws; you remove them. Then, again with the hot air gun, you will heat the base of the satellite where the three wires come in because a blob of glue holds the printed circuit. Using a flat screwdriver with a 2mm blade, you lift on the jack side by pushing it inward because it is embedded in the case, then two white and pink wires that are soldered on the opposite side near the switch. The printed circuit is glued to the case with a white adhesive; you heat it slightly and then remove your printed circuit. You also need to remove the black tape that holds the wiring in place, which will give you more movement. In my case, the potentiometer was not working anymore; I unsoldered it because there was a lot of play in the axis causing crackling, no power indicator light, and the HP G that was no longer working. I re-soldered everything and found four broken solder joints on the circuit. I reassembled everything in the reverse order of disassembly, and everything works as originally, no more crackling, indicators stay lit under power, and both satellites work. I hope I have answered your question. Good luck!
