Hello,
I'm looking to edit the tags of my mp3 files to make sorting easier, especially on my mp3 player, but they are not being recognized.
When I edit them, either with WMP or with Mp3tag, I can see the information and the changes (title, artist, album name, etc.), but this information does not appear in the Windows data (right-click on the file, properties, summary, etc.).
When I open the music folder, the only information that is displayed and that I can see is the file name, its size, and its type (even if I request to display everything else).
For your information, I am using Windows XP sp3.
Do you have any idea?
Thanks in advance :)

Hello Kelleb,
I also have XP SP3, I also use MP3TAG and for me too the tags do not appear under Windows/properties.
I think it's normal. Why is that ??????????? (same when we remake a CD in "normal" format from tagged MP3s)
However, I do believe that under WMP, the track titles appear.
Well, my input doesn't really advance the issue, but if someone else has a better idea, I could benefit from it too.
Best regards. -
Hi, I use DBpoweramp Music Converter v13.3 and there is a module that allows
to modify, create, or even delete the tags of mp3s.
To do this, right-click on the mp3, select Edit ID-Tag, and there you go, you can modify
whatever you want... -

I don't use DB Power Amp. So I don't know. Sorry.
Among the free software applications, MP3Tag is the best I've found (but I haven't looked much).
See you later. -

No shame in using paid software, Max31.
Although ...... ;-)) -

I don't think my problem comes from the software. I can easily modify the tag with Winamp, WMP, or even Mp3tag, and it works fine. After disconnecting and reconnecting, the modified tags are preserved and detected by these programs.
What doesn't work is the detection of the data modification at the Windows level. The Explorer does not detect or read the tag. Similarly, my MP3 player does not take it into account. In conclusion, I cannot sort the files by artist or album, for example. -
Keleb,
I guess you modified the right tags? (via MP3Tag, I have, in the order of useful columns: file name / file path / Tag (ID3v1 + ID3V2.3) / Title / Artist / Album) and that via Windows Explorer, you go to Properties / Summary / Advanced?? If that's exactly what you're following as instructions, then I don't see what else I could do to help you from a distance. :-{ But there are many who are smarter than me in the group, and I hope you'll find the solution.
Best regards. -
With Mp3Tag, I filled in all the possible fields, but nothing appears in Windows Explorer :(
