Philips TV brightness adjustment

Hello,
I have a Philips Black line S TV (I'm not sure if that's the name because I was given it, I’ll post a photo on my profile).
I have a Thomson universal remote ROC2407 and I find the TV too dark.
Can someone please tell me the steps to follow? 
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.0.15

    Ok thanks,
    I found out how to fix it but when I turn off the TV it goes dark again.
