Hello,

I've been browsing the web to find answers to my questions, but I can't find what I'm looking for! Opinions about the training provided by AFPA are quite mixed, and I'm having a hard time forming an opinion. However, I've noticed through various testimonies that the quality of training depends a lot on the center that delivers it.

So my question is: I need to choose an AFPA center to take a course in Graphic Design/Layout. I would like to hear the opinions of former trainees from Metz, Vénissieux, Le Creusot, and Calais. How did you experience your training? Accommodation conditions, quality of teaching, etc...

I don't want to end up in a center that might disappoint me when I could have been very happy in another!

    AFPA centers are very different from one another; indeed, concerning the infrastructure, the price even of the room rentals apparently, the quality of the training, and the reception for sure.
    AFPA is not considered a prestigious institution in the job market but rather a catch-all without serious references today, especially since they have been relying on the private sector (they have been undergoing restructuring for years).

    So make sure to get informed properly from the students.

      Okay, I finally chose the AFPA center in Metz. I just have to wait and see if the region will cover my training... There you go! I wish you a good journey ahead!

        I wanted to know how your AFPA tests went in Lyon, and I would like details about your training, your feelings, and if you are satisfied with your training? Did you find a job easily, or did you continue or can you continue at AFPA with the next level of training as a HR manager? Because I have my test on September 13, 2016, and I wanted to know what to expect? Apparently, there is a meeting beforehand and then an evaluation, that's what it says in my invitation; I'm doing it in Paris. I'm waiting for your news?

    I will only respond regarding accommodation:
    shared: room for 4 (or fewer): it's up to you to see if you can handle it!
    In Vénissieux, the cafeteria is very decent and really inexpensive.

      Ok, thanks for the info... it's not easy to find the information! 4 seems hard to bear indeed, I like to be quiet in my corner so well, but if I have no choice I'll make do, I'm not going to play the "princess" and throw diva fits if having some minimum privacy is one of them...

      Apparently, it also depends on the training center, some offer single rooms (what a luxury it seems...).

      As far as I understand, you are at AFPA in Vénissieux? I have to go there in October for a training course as a Human Resources Assistant.
      I would like to know how it works there!
      The classes, the schedule......

    I completed a bilingual secretary-documentalist training course at the AFPA center in Lyon-Vénissieux in... 1973 (class of 17 students, duration: about 9 months) after 2 years of studies at the University of Brest. I have great memories of it. The teaching staff was competent and motivated, with excellent support for the trainees, and quality accommodation and catering despite the rooms being shared by 4. We all secured a job at the end of this training. Additionally, Lyon is a very pleasant and lively city.

      I went to the AFPA in Vénissieux, section "perfos Vérifs," which makes people laugh given the date in 1973/1974. We had two really nice teachers who hosted me on weekends because I couldn't afford to go back to Montluçon, having two young children. I regret nothing because before that I did a training in accounting assistance in Beaumont, which allowed me to have a great job in Paris and then when I returned, before retirement, in Montluçon.
      Now I do volunteer work and help people in great difficulty and looking for jobs. Two weeks ago, I accompanied them to the open house here.
      As I didn’t really have a youth, I must say that the few months in Vénissieux made me feel good with young "girls" my age.
      I wish everyone who wants to go there the best. Without any preconceived notions.
      I would really like to find Nicole who lived in Manosque, but I have a memory lapse about her LAST NAME.

    It's nonsense, lately a friend of my daughter went to AFPA in Bourges and now since he got his BTS in computer science, in two years he has become the manager of a big company, but he wants it like me, so don't say foolish things and the term "catch-all" is detestable, it's better than the second chance school for young people.
