Hello,
I have had a JVC DVX4 digital camcorder for ages and I have made a lot of films that I would like to put on DVD, but I can't get it to work despite the manual, the CD, the cables, etc. There must be something I'm not doing right, but nothing happens when I connect my camcorder to my PC. Could someone please provide me in French the steps to follow??????
Thank you.
HOW DOES IT WORK ???????

Hello,
If you use the i-link connection (also called IEEE, I can't remember!), you connect the camcorder to the PC, then turn on the camcorder, it should find it.
If that’s not the case, try using MovieMaker for example to see if it works.
Otherwise, you need to check in the hardware configuration if your i-Link input is properly recognized.

Hello, your camcorder is a mini-DV, and it has a FireWire (or DV or IEEE1394) port. You need to connect the camcorder to the computer via this port, and you must have FireWire support on the PC. If not, there are FireWire PCI cards, ExpressCards, and PCMCIA cards available depending on whether you want to install it on a desktop or laptop... On Windows XP, you have Movie Maker, which is a simple program for capturing. No drivers are needed; the camcorder is recognized, and the transfer works very well!
Thank you for your response
but I actually have a whole bunch of cables but not that one and the manual doesn't mention it while on the front of the device there is this connection, so do I need to buy this cable or can I connect with one of the stock cables provided because I think I have tried all the connection solutions
thank you for your response and especially for your patience

Thank you for your reply, but I think I found the problem. I plugged in the cable you mentioned, and by moving it, the connection was made. However, I have another issue: I no longer have the driver for my JVC GR-DV, and oops! In fact, the software I installed is the film editing software and not the one for the camcorder, which is why my computer doesn't recognize the newly detected device......
Do you know where I can find the download for this device????????
Thank you for your patience and for your reply.
