Sky GCR Network is not working on the network

Hello,
Ciel Commercial Management Evolution 2009 Network 2 stations that I bought from
CIEL do not work on the network:
it is not possible to work simultaneously from the client station
and from the server station on the same file (the same company),
the following error message appears:
“Error: The process cannot access the file because it is being used
by another process. [0x00000020]"
File: !Srv!Standard error code 4294967264”
However, it is possible to operate from the client station if the
server software is not open on the same file, but this
situation is not sufficient.
Furthermore, on Ciel Server, the file Aide.chm is missing under C:\Program
Files\Ciel\Serveur\ (error message: “File does not exist. The help
file is missing”).
The company Ciel I contacted informed me that in order to install the
software in network mode, a maintenance contract must be subscribed to (even though the
purchase conditions of the software did not include the obligation to
subscribe to a maintenance contract for it to work).
In any case, my startup company does not have the financial means to subscribe to such a maintenance contract, the price of which (1190
euros excluding VAT) is twice that of the software, for now.

I am therefore looking for a solution to make this software work in the network,
and would appreciate any advice.

Best regards, jf.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.0.6

    Hello,
It is generally good manners, when solving your own problem, to briefly explain how you got there.
Otherwise, what are help forums for?

So since the person who initiated the request is being a bit unhelpful, I will provide the solution.

On the server, check that "CIEL Server" is running properly. (Visible in the taskbar). Click on it to open it and verify that the instance is running. This will be indicated at the bottom of the window.
Then, on the first workstation, open CIEL, then close the open database.
    Then go to File/Open.
By default, it should propose to open the database on the CIEL server. (You must not open it using the UNC path).
On the second workstation, do the same, open CIEL, then close the open database and go to FILE/Open and it should offer to open the folder accessible in client/server mode.

The problem is that if you access the database using the explorer, it's as if you were using it in single-user mode and therefore you cannot share it that way.
    Best regards.

        Hey,

Everything is working great, thanks for the help.

I knew there was some tweaking to do on the server config of this horrendous maze... for me it was switching the IP channel from automatic to the server's IP address (DNS is for losers! #wise).

It's still a really archaic way of functioning...

So after some reflection, I found that the software must allow access to the file from all networked workstations, so the file should not be used only at startup by the server.
