Hello,
Since today, my HDD/DVD burner LG RH177 won't turn on anymore. When I press "Power" with the remote or on the device itself, the message "wait please" scrolls continuously on the front display, and it's impossible to select the different functions of the device. Have you ever encountered this issue? Is there a "personal" solution without an expensive return to customer service? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi, I followed the procedure below and it resolved the "please wait" issue on an LG RH 177
• Remove the cover
• Disconnect the "loader/reader" and "dd" cables and the "LCD" (front display) cable
• Disconnect the top board from the bottom board (remove the 4 screws first)
• Power on for 1 minute
• Turn off by unplugging the LG
• Reconnect the top board to the bottom board (put the 4 screws back)
• Reconnect the "LCD" cable
• Power on and turn on with the on/off button on the front for 1 minute
• Reconnect the "loader" and "dd" cables
• Reattach the cover
• Turn on and normally after "please wait" the LG starts up like before
It worked for me, please let me know if it works for you-

Thank you very much to djodjo2000. The message "Please wait" has disappeared and my LG player/recorder is working normally again.
I had already tried unplugging it for a few hours, but without success.
LG should have planned for a "reset" button like on some electronic devices!!!
Have a nice day

Hello, I just tested this solution on my LG RH177 that wouldn’t start anymore, and the result is more than convincing; it works again, thank you very much.

Thank you very much! I was able to save my RH188 from being scrapped...
It had been displaying a "Please wait" message in a loop since yesterday! It's a bit incredible to be at the mercy of this type of problem with mass-produced equipment. -
Take the opportunity to increase the HDD capacity: I upgraded my 80GB to a 500GB, which now gives me nearly 250 hours in SP (130 hours in XP) compared to 40 hours in SP and 20 in XP.
See you later! -
Hello,
for my part, I did the same thing, unfortunately now the player goes from:
"please wait" to
"LG recorder" to
"PROG 01-xxx"
then reboots right after, etc., etc., etc..... and it's always the same.
I think it's sulking at me !!!!!
Is there anyone super clever who can help me, because I'm stuck here...
Thanks in advance to everyone.

Just a small clarification, after the manipulation, it works but I had a few interruptions during a reading right after, the reader closes by itself (every 10 minutes).
I did a factory reset, and since then it seems to be working, 1 hour and 30 minutes without interruptions for the moment. -
Thank you for the tip
I just had a breakdown with an LG 188 HS, and it worked
Bravo again and a thousand thanks, we were already about to buy another one but luckily there is the Internet and nice people like you
